FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a faculty member at Music Works Northwest and Music & Arts Issaquah, I am in regularly contact with some great teachers with centuries of combined experience. I make it a point to check in with them often about new trends, tools and methods. I'm also fortunate to have a teaching mentor who has been teaching twice as long as I have. I value his wisdom and insights greatly.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I taught private lessons during college and my senior year began touring with a trio that also led workshops, masterclasses and teaching residencies at colleges and K-12 schools across the county. This and my private studio in Seattle kept me on my toes as I learned ways to connect quickly with students from diverse backgrounds and share concepts effectively. I have always enjoyed the challenge of teaching since no two students are alike and their questions inspire me to find new ways of thinking about music and the instrument.
