Jewlie is absolutely fantastic! She's always looking out for our pets and she's been watching our dogs since they've been puppies, I wouldn't go to anyone else. She keeps an eye out on behavior changes in our dogs in case they get into anything they shouldn't be. She sends us the occasional photo of our dogs playing in the yard which is just great! I put a lot of trust into her pet sitting skills and you can tell she takes this very seriously and she's never let me down. Highly recommended to anyone looking for quality pet care! :)

I'm so thankful Kelley was able to meet me last minute and start cat sitting the next day. She replied within minutes of my post and we met for an initial consultation just a few hours after. So happy! Plus she's texting me daily updates and sometimes pics too. Woooonderful!!

Laura is phenomenal. We had her house/pet sit for our two Boston Terriers who are both deaf. The older one needs eye meds every 3-4 hrs. We were gone for 11 days and not accessible unless a dire emergency. Laura sent regular emails keeping us updated on what they were doing and how things were going. She fully understood our anxiety in leaving them and did an outstanding job reassuring us. She left the house looking great and even had a pot of homemade soup waiting for us on our exhausting return in the middle of the night. She is such a caring and conscientious caregiver. She even gave us TWO meet and greet appointments prior. We highly recommend her services. She will be our "baby" sitter, for certain, in the future! Bob & Cindy and Bonnie & Gracie

I always rest easy knowing that my beloved pet is being given such great care by Shelby while I am away from home traveling for work. She always texts the cutest picture updates which make me smile ( or sometimes laugh if they show my overly affectionate dog is trying to lick her face, LOL ). My pooch clearly adores Shelby, and it is so great having someone that you trust and who you know will give your pet amazing care while you are away from home.

Awesome experience. I have an older dog who is getting more aggressive with strangers and she managed to win him over and one dog that is much younger and a total sweetheart. She successfully help me while I was on vacation and my husband and daughter works long and odd hours. We did not want to leave them created for too long. Angelica came in with a key and walked the dogs. I really loved her app, that shared with me pictures and their adventures together. I am very grateful for her help.

No complaints! Did what was asked and checked in and out each time, which I appreciate! My kitty, Pearl, is very shy, and getting older, but she came out of hiding to meet them which tells me they are sensitive to kitty cats. Will definitely have them back in the future.

Melody recently watched my two cats and she was amazing! We hadn’t been able to go on vacation since my cat was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago, and Melody went above and beyond all expectations. She took excellent care of both kitties and gave daily insulin injections to my diabetic cat. She sent many pictures throughout my trip and my pets loved her! I highly recommend hiring melody for pet sitting and I will definitely be going to her every time we will be out of town.

Lauren looked after our dog Napoleon when we went on a week vacation. She & her mother were very accommodating and did a very good job taking care of our dog. They surpassed our expectations and would consider them again if our need for a pet sitter arises again. I would recommended them to our friends and family.

My friend Betty Warr has worked for me doing light housekeeping in the past before my husband retired. She is honest and did a very good job. She also took over the care of my mother-in-law's poodle dog when my mother-in-law had to go into a nursing home. She loves dogs and does an excellent job of caring for her pets. She also did some housekeeping for my mother-in-law and father-in-law when they were still in their own home. They enjoyed having her help them.

While visiting “Paddywhack” pet store I stumbled upon a business card for Nanny Dolittle. I’d been looking for a pet-sitter or someone who can drop in on a long work day and tend to my pack. Some time went by and we adopted a fourth rescue dog. Adjustment periods for the dogs can take some time and extra tending to, so I decided to call the Nanny. We met, reviewed each dog in depth, my expectations for her visits, their expectations and then we created a visitation schedule on the spot. She left with a key to our home and has been coming regularly for over a year. Nanny Dolittle provides loving care to my dogs that desire it most and endless ball throwing for the other two. She knows exactly what each one needs and intuitively reads them when she visits. I know this because she leaves a note at the end of her visit that describes her stay and interactions with them. What she writes is exactly what we would have done for them had we been home. In addition, we notice the difference in their energy, happiness and general well-being on the days the Nanny has visited. She is reliable, flexible, trustworthy, accommodating, gentle, caring and provides exactly what she promises. We feel lucky to have her in our pack and the dogs are always excited when we leave for work with the parting words, “The Nanny will be visiting with you today, just rest until her arrival.” Rachael Millikan Beyond Barking Animal Communication www.beyondbarking.com

Rheanna is a trustworthy, compassionate, and caring animal lover. She is full of information as to the needs and care options for your pet. She also in fully in tune with each dog or pet she walks or cares for. My little Yorkie absolutely loves her, and he is picky about who spends time with him. I would absolutely recommend her to others.

About

My work is first and foremost about pleasing my client. Since every client is different I have to have a wide skill set in order to ensure that each clients individual needs are being met. This may mean for one client I walk their dog and help with daily chores they themselves are not able to do and for another client it may just mean that I keep them company and talk with them.

About

I love animals, and I take good care of them. I feed them at the exact hour, take them out for a walk and make them feel loved.

About

We do dog and cat boarding, where we treat your pets like how they deserve to be treated, and they are not just stuck in a kennel all day. At the same time, they have their own kennel for their private time. We take all breeds, just not females in heat or plain old people-aggressive dogs. We also offer doggy daycare. We have a facility built specifically for doggy daycare, and we do not just put them in some remodeled warehouse or storefront. We also have a huge outdoor play area. Between the big climate-controlled room and the outdoor area, your dog will go home happy and exhausted. We do not discriminate against any breed, but we are very careful, and weed out any dog that might be a problem with the pack. We treat your pets like family!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. I am open to the sitter staying at my house or my dog (black lab mix - Lucy) staying with the sitter from this Friday to Sunday evening. She is really good girl and well socialized by she hurt her foot so I don't want to take her to doggie daycare like I normally would and aggrevate her injury. Unfortunately, I don't have transportation to take Lucy to the sitter.
