The Apple Landscaping Crew showed up on-time, did a great job with my jungle of a yard, and even blew off the driveway and deck without having to ask. I am genuinely impressed with both their skills and work quality. Couldn't be happier with their work!!!

Jorge and his crew did a really nice job for a very reasonable price. They installed insulation, hung and taped drywall (with a smooth finish), painted the exterior and painted the interior of a garage-turned-studio / workshop. I am a bit of a 'perfectionist on a budget'... so probably the most annoying kind of customer to work with. And while I did have to make a few requests throughout the job that I thought were sort of obvious (like covering the garage doors in plastic because the black exterior paint was misting on them), they were always very accommodating and wanted me to be satisfied with the project. So just be very specific at the beginning about your expectations and tell Jorge if anything comes up that you're not satisfied with, and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the end result. One example... the floor was left with white drywall dust and mud splatters on the concrete (even though I had mentioned that it was our final flooring and not going to be covered up), and when I texted Jorge about it, his wife called me right away and they came over that evening to scrub it clean. They are really nice people to work with, and it's apparent that they care about their customers. I would work with them again on future projects.

Julio and his crew are top notch. I having only lived in Washington a few years don’t know all the good companies around . But I’m here to tell you . You need landscaping a patio or a driveway these guys will go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied. I will add pics in a bit as soon as it’s all done . ( had some settlement issues no fault of there’s my yard was a swamp ) I know they added more fill to get the patio where it was needed . But not once did he change his quote . Julio is all about quality and doing a fantastic job making the customer happy . I will only use his company for anything yard related Thank you Julio for giving me a beautiful patio !!! Thanks again John Biegger

Alex concrete did my driveway and added steps to my back patio. The price was very reasonable and his work was done in a timely matter. I also made sure that he didn't start no work until we both signed a contract. Communications went smoothly. Very beautiful work.

Vili repaired the expansion joints in my concrete driveway and repaired a drain in my driveway. He was very responsive, waited until the weather was appropriate before doing his work, and his prices were very reasonable compared to others. The quality of work was great

We needed the perimiter of our concrete subfloor of our living room leveled in order to have flooring installed. We were on a tight schedule and I worked with Bill to coordinate a quick onsite review of the job. He had Tony out for a quote the next day and Pea completed a great job the day after. I would work with Evergreeen again for future contract work.

Excellent communication and workmanship. They took great care not to spill or splatter the other concrete portions of my driveway. I am happy to give Ryan and his crew high marks.

Kevin and his crew were awesome. We initially hired them to cover some of our brick exterior with Stucco. There was a mix-up with how the color appeared once it was applied but Kevin helped to get that cleared up and we are really happy with his work. We ended up also hiring Kevin to replace our old asphalt driveway with concrete and once again he and his team knocked it out of the park. I will definitely be using Kevin again for any future projects that his team can do.

I'm extremely satisfied with Sun Rise Concrete. Longo came out to my home and provided me with the estimate. He was very clear about what the project would entail, and the price was just what I was looking for. The work was done with excellent care given to my yard and property. Our driveway looks fantastic and we have already received many compliments. Longo and his team were very friendly and easy to work with. Highly Recommend.

Got off to a rocky start, but once they arrived, Ricky's guys worked fast busting up two huge concrete steps and filling the spot with smooth concrete. They left my carport clean and free of debris. Will not hesitate to call again for concrete work.

Leslie and his team were affordable, professional, and accommodating to our request to install a concrete walkway. The work was so good, we increased the scope of the job to include an additional walkway and some driveway edgework. We did an exposed aggregate surface, and the work they did merged seamlessly with the prior concrete. The rates were fair, and if we thought they were a little off, it was an easy conversation to see if there was anything that could be done to reduce costs through changing the scope of the job. His team works hard, gets the work done quickly, and they are all very friendly. We will definitely reach out to Leslie Construction again if we need any concrete performed. I think they do other work too, so when other jobs come up, we will certainly reach out to Leslie to see if it is something they can do at a fair price. Highly recommended for concrete work and possibly other work as well.

Carlos came out the next day after contacting him through Thumbtack. I told him what I needed done in my driveway, he emailed me a bid by that evening. I had already got 2 other bids, his bid was in the middle. I decided to go with Seattle Concrete because of how Carlos listened to my needs and then explained to me in detail the steps it would take to get me what I wanted. The crew that came out were on time, explained the steps, had me come out before laying the asphalt. They were on it, I was very impressed watching them work. They were definitely a great team. My driveway was done that day, they cleaned everything up, like they weren’t even here, except left a new driveway. Which is exactly what I wanted :)

We have nothing but good things to say about this company. They were extremely professional- from the costing and initial drawings to the completion of the work. They were very accommodating with timing other landscaping contractors work and made sure that our sprinkler system was not affected by the excavation. The quality of the work is excellent. All of the workers were pleasant and professional. They even adjusted the plan to accommodate a drain for the front step. Highly recommend.

We had a large job that included taking out many plants and small trees, moving several plants, adding a great deal of "good" soil, constructing raised beds, an arbor, a large paver patio, walkways, gravel, lighting, bringing in a variety of new treees and bushes. All done with very limited access. The bid was fair, the quality was excellent; Gil and his sons and Eduardo were a joy to work with. They followed our initial plans, but were willing to give suggestions for improvements. We agreed with almost all, and the few we didn't agree with Gil accepted with grace. The job took nearly four weeks, they were always on time and kept us informed throughout the process of what would happen next. I would highly recommend them. Every day I look at my new backyard and absolutely LOVE it. Thanks Gil for a great exerience.

Best Concrete removed my old sidewalk and installed a new sidewalk and steps at my residence. Mausia Folau, the owner, was very responsive and professional from the bidding process through project completion. I picked the rainiest month of the year to have this work done, but he managed to get it completed on one of the drier days of March. Mausia communicated through the entire process and there were no surprises. I am an extremely picky person and things have to be perfect. Best Concrete delivered a product and service beyond my expectations. The crew was very polite and professional. I had several bids for this project and Best Concrete was very fair with their pricing. I would highly recommend Best Concrete and am planning another project this spring or summer and would not hesitate to contact Best Concrete for further concrete projects. I am sure you will be very pleased with their work and professionalism.

We were in a bit of yard crisis when we hired Manuel and his team. Our contractor disappeared for a month without any word leaving our yard in mess and that's when we contacted Manuel through Thumbtack. He immediately came to check out the work and provided a quote, We first gave him a smaller project but seeing his team's work we gave them more work. They build stairs for us, did concrete pathway and pavers in the backyard. They also cut a big tree in the backyard and that created a ton of space. Backyard is looking really nice and we now love going to our backyard (we didn't use it for last four years since we bought the house). We will be giving him some more work. Only thing I would say is they are not cheap but they do good work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
