"As a retired Captain Firefighter/EMT, I have been on too many scenes where people's homes were burning, many times to the ground, and their life long and most dearest possessions and pictures go literally going up in smoke right before their eyes. Their tears, their disbelief and how their reactions are repeated over and over as they thought of the different things that were now gone forever. Very sad. We do what we can, but... As firefighters we always try to save everything we can from the people to the pets but it doesn't always work out for the good. The tears and wails when they know they've lost one or more loved ones now perished in the flames. Tragedies all. I can safely say that a home inspection could literally save lives and homes. Maybe even SAVE YOURS! Here's how I see it; I'd have to say that of all residential structure fires, an easy 90% of them COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED! Out of that 90%, not quite 1/3 were caused by careless human action, pets, appliance neglect, etc. All the rest I'd say, could have been prevented with a professional home inspection done by somebody knowledgeable in all the areas of electrical and plumbing, (Yes, I've seen fires caused by bad plumbing!) as well as structural, geological, rodent and insect detection, etc. Richard Blackburn is that kind of Home Inspector. A good home inspection is not only a smart preliminary to a home purchase, but also for the long-term homeowner as well! Think about it. Maybe you've lived in your home for many years now. Are you sure all the wiring is still safe? That the hvac in good working order? The roof isn't about to come down on you or there isn't some black mold growing in rotted flooring. Don't you think it would be better to make sure everything about your family castle is safe for you and your family? Or if it's NOT safe, that Blackburn Home Inspection found it in time? I honestly don't say all this intending for it to be a scare tactic in any way. I say all this because of the all too often brutal reality of what has been my experience so that you won't find yourself being one of those standing out amongst the firehoses and smoke watching everything they love...or worse...go up in the flames. You should call Blackburn Home Inspection and have Richard give you the peace of mind you need. It might even save your life!
