We hired a writing tutor for our 10 year old son (5th grader). Leisl is a very smart, witty, charming, and intelligent tutor who our son adores. He used to be so lazy before Leisl started tutoring him, now he does seem excited about writing.

Lynn Wilton tutored a child in my elementary classroom for four months using basic, intensive phonics. She was excellent. This struggling 9-year-old had low self-esteem and extreme difficulty reading. After this time with Lynn, she was a different child. She read aloud with ease. She spoke and wrote with confidence. This tutoring literally changed her life. Lynn is a strong as well as a kind tutor. She works well with children and adults and I highly recommend her. She was punctual and professional, considerate and awesome.

Patricia is amazing. She helped Aniruddh rampup quickly on English and helped him get better grades. We moved from India when Aniruddh was 7. English was not his primary language, that made him struggle at school. Patricia came to the rescue and helped Aniruddh gradually pick the language, both written and spoken. Patricia has tremendous experience working with all kinds of children, and she adapts her curriculum according to each Student. In teaching experience helps. In addition to a great teacher, she is also a wonderful person and awesome baker. She is very punctual, polite and helpful. I learned a few baking tips from her on the side when she was teaching. My kids still miss Patricia. Thanks for ask the help.

Grant is helping my daughter with SAT tutoring. So far, so good. He has gotten her more engaged in studying for the SAT. He has an excellent grasp on all aspects of the material (math, reading, writing and essay) and strategies, and he has been able to convey the information effectively.

I strongly recommend Theo if someone is looking for a math tutor. Theo tutored my daughter during the summer. She failed Algebra and had to take the class in the summer. Theo was able to explain the concepts and teach my daughter how to solve the Algebra problems. After just 2 tutoring sessions my daughter had a better understanding of the Algebra concepts. My daughter received an 87 as her grade for Algebra 1. I strongly recommend Theo without any reservations. Theo is patient and it's a bittersweet departure hoping Theo returns back to DC.

Louisa has been a great tutor for me and I very much enjoyed the time editing my application essays with her. As a non-native speaker, I did not have any communication problems with her. She is really patient and thoughtful: She would read through my writing and make sure to grasp my main arguments points before we get started to make any editings. In this way, I felt confident that my essays would convey my original points. Also, I learned a lot on how to improve my essays to become more concise, coherent and interesting to read. Besides editing the my grammer mistakes, she takes time to correct word choice, sentence structure and the whole paragraph strucure. She really helped me on getting my ideas across the board. I would recommend her to other non-native speaker students who wants to improve their writing skills in English. You would spend a good time working with her.

Teresa tutored my children when they were three and four years old. The environment felt very safe and loving. She has the gift and knows how to connect with children. My son went to kindergarten reading fluently from working with her. From there he went into the gifted program in the public school. Jonathan's early reading skills set him up for success and has impacted his life. He is now 24 and is doing very well.

Ethan is a great tutor to my 8th grade son. He prepared my son for ACT and SAT tests. Thanks to Ethan, my son got good scores on these tests and was accepted by talented searches like TiP Duke, CTY John Hopkins and Robinson UW. Ethan also provided general consulting about school classes that he recommends to take, interesting magazines and articles. My son started to read Wired and other magazines after Ethan motivated him. Also, Ethan is very responsive and flexible with schedule. His unique benefit that he comes to your place, so you don't need to drive your kiddo anywhere. I highly recommend Ethan for tutoring for SAT/ACT tests, high school prep, math.

Chris was hired to be a writing tutor for our son. What we got was that, plus so so much more! As a former high school teacher, Chris understands and relates incredibly well with high schoolers. He helped our son to organize himself better (refine his executive function skills), and write in a more organized, purposeful and effective way. Our son's grades and test scores showed the impact of Chris' attention, and we are so happy we made the connection. You would be fortunate to connect your child to Chris. He is that rare individual who really cares, and makes a significant positive impact in your child's (and your family's) life.

I have been published by major publishers and my books have been translated into seven languages. I have edited full length novels, and Rutgers University published my China memoir as written, with no need for edits or proofreading because I did all of that successfully myself. I taught English at a major university in China for three years, taught nurses at a major teaching hospital, taught classes of children, and tutored children and adults. I have edited full length novels, and my own website. Proofreading is a given.
