Jan was the dj for our wedding at Skamania lodge and we would highly recommend him to everyone! He did a great job feeling out the crowd and what everyone wanted to be played. He showed up early and was always very accommodating. Best dj ever!

I am a bit of an audiophile so I'm picky about music and bands. These guys are excellent musicians. They have an extensive list of songs they cover and each song was played extraordinarily well. Definitely recommend them to a friend; but I don't have to because my friends were here and they loved the band too. Dave Orr Kelso Wa

Charlotte absolutely shined at our Christmas party. She is such an accomplished pianist who was focused and kept playing amidst the chaos of a child filled home. Charlotte happily took many, many request from the children. And the hightlight was a special rendition of Fairytale of New York. She learned this song for us so that I could surprise my husband with his favorite Christmas song. The whole party enjoyed singing along to all the songs.

We hired John to play guitar at our summer wedding. I provided him a few examples of songs I liked and then asked if he could play similar sounding songs. He played his original songs that were in the same vein as the songs I said I liked. It made our wedding, especially those important moments like when we all walked down the aisle, that much more special because we had original songs that no one else would have at their weddings. I could not be happier with our decision to have him be a part of our wedding and would suggest him to anyone looking for acoustic guitar at their wedding or other event!

Wow, Lauren is amazing! She played at our intimate wedding ceremony and helped create the romantic vibe that I was going for. She went above and beyond with arranging a version of our favorite indie/pop song. I highly recommend Lauren as she is great to work with and an amazing harpist! Truly made our wedding day magical.

Good Co played the reception at our annual conference and did a great job setting the mood. Our event was smaller than we had originally expected, but the band played on like it was a packed house. Everyone in attendance really appreciated their performance and I couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere than what Good Co created. Great music, a great presence, and worth every penny!

Ed Mays Groove Kitchen’s music is full of jazzy delta blues, pop, rock and funk as well, for a sound that is timeless yet modern in it's own way. It’s kind of like stepping back in time, but with the keys to the Porche. This group - is undeniably charming, and undeniably entertaining. Not to mention pretty darn talented. Our guests ranged in all ages, and everyone loved Ed Mays Groove Kitchen. If you want your wedding reception, or whatever event to really "Groove", book this band! -Christy K, Seattle, WA

Two Men and a Bassist played my wedding reception, and they were terrific both in terms of sound and being easy to work with. They played a variety of jazz and some funk, and people danced and had a great time. And when my husband turned to Collin at the end of a number and asked, "Do you guys know the theme song for 'Peanuts'?" they didn't miss a beat, playing it right away. I whole-heartedly recommend them!

We are very happy with Bloomfield Music's service! The 3 piece band we requested included piano, flute, and cello. They sounded wonderful, were very professional, accommodating, and well prepared. They played a mix of classical and contemporary/pop pieces for my husband's 50th birthday party. Highly recommended!

We had Tsunami Piñata in at Bottlehouse for our annual Bastille Day Party. Every guest thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of music played. We even had a wedding party in our private event space that preferred to listen to Tsunami Piñata as opposed to their own playlist.

        About

I do live band music and single singing act with acoustic/electric guitar. I do country rock music mixed with classic rock. I am a lead singer/bass player of the Classic Roads country rock band. I am a lead singer/guitarist of the Hometown Hootenanny show (Grand Ole Opry-type show). If you need a band, or wedding songs accompanied on acoustic guitar, just a single vocalist on acoustic guitar, or some background music with a positive crowd engaging energy, just tell me what you want, what you really really want!

        About

I guess that would depend on which service we're referring to here; as far as karaoke goes I feel that it's because I add to the performance of the singer by playing assorted instruments, backing vocals, and an above average mix. These things combine to create a much more authentic feel for a singer. As far as instruction, I use a much more informal and flexible style that I feel is less rigid for a new student and allows for more creativity and enhanced advancement.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

        • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
        • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
        • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
