Introduction: I'm a professionally-trained, international award-winning cellist with degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the University of Southern California and a top prize from the George Enescu International Cello Competition. I am a chamber musician who is dedicated to passing along my love for music. It has enriched my life in many ways, and my hope is for those who study music, however that may be, to have that same opportunity and fulfillment. I'm eager to help the beginner, to the more advanced musician, discover their own expression through the cello. I want my students to be challenged by their lessons, with added positive encouragement to keep them engaged. Whatever skillset, it's an exciting journey! (Just a side note regarding my rather fresh Thumbtack profile: After a couple of years of NYC life, and a couple more of bi-coastal living, my partner and I have happily settled in Seattle where I'm hoping to set up a studio of cellists.)

Sarah is a fantastic cellist and musician. She has a deep knowledge of music and all things cello. As a professional cellist that has performed internationally on some of the finest stages in the world. Sarah has a kind and instinctive voice. One of her many attributes is her ability to find solutions, and look at problems for many angles. Her lessons include the insights of her own experiences and the nuances that can only be understood by someone who has performed at highest levels. I would highly recommend Sarah as cello teacher of distinction!

I had the opportunity to receive several cello lessons with Sarah. I was grateful to be taught by such an outstanding cellist and musician. Sarah has toured with the finest chamber music ensembles in the US and her teaching directly reflects that. She's passionate, enthusiastic and challenges students through an expression-based approach to teaching. I'm always looking forward to the next lesson.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lesson duration will depend on the age and level of the student, and where the lesson occurs. I offer 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons. From there, I charge a flat fee for whichever lesson duration we decide is best. Lessons held in my home will run at a cheaper rate. I'm happy to find an arrangement that works for the both of us!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

It all started by teaching some neighborhood kids piano lessons in suburban NJ, one of whom is now pursuing his Masters Degree in piano performance! Throughout my studies, I have participated in coaching cello students from various backgrounds.
