Victoria was AMAZING! She has such a fun personality and is really easy to get along with. If you're having any sort of issues with your resume, or want to switch career paths, she is the perfect person to help you. She has some serious creative writing skills and can take a bad resume and turn it into an amazing one in no time at all. Highly recommend!Jul 11, 2017Verified
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Our first appointment involves discussion about goals and deadlines, as well as an overview of any documents such as resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn pages or academic papers. From there, we begin editing/writing and make an overall plan for sessions moving forward.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I moved to Japan after college to teach English as a Foreign Language for the JET Program. I had a BA in English and knew nothing about teaching English. I FELL IN LOVE with the culture and the process of teaching English to these kids in a mountain town of 6000. Back in the States, I began to teach general English as a Second Language at colleges, and was eventually asked to develop curriculum for specialized Workforce Development and Vocational English Programs. I was also asked to write a training manual for other teachers, on how to develop customized curriculum. I found I had a skill and intense interest in learning about many different companies, what they do, how they work, etc. I began my own consulting business for business writing and eventually began to focus specifically on resume writing and writing for academia.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I write, edit and format LinkedIn Summaries, resumes and web content for professionals in very diverse fields, including IT, Business, Finance, Education, Healthcare, Sports, Spa, and the Visual and Performing Arts. I also work with clients on all aspects of written and verbal communication, including interviewing, elevator speeches, giving lectures or Power Point Presentations and marketing their business in any situation. Many clients refer to me as a "life coach" as I also help them find the right words to say what they have done and what they want to do, which is primary for interviewing and writing clear cover letters. When we meet, I will ask you thought-provoking questions which will guide you in developing your 2 minute "elevator speech". I also work with international professionals at Boeing, Microsoft and other local companies, helping them to improve their written and spoken fluency in English. We practice what to say in team meetings, how to write professional emails, giving Power Point presentations, how to make conversation at the water cooler, and more. I have also worked with many students from University of Washington, Bellevue College, Seattle Pacific University, Kaplan Aspect and City University. We work on essays, research papers, anything covered in English 101, studying for the Compass Test, overall English grammar, how to contribute in class when called on, etc.
