Jewlie is awesome! I have two cats: one is old, cranky and hates visitors and the other is diabetic requiring insulin shots twice a day. I needed a pet sitter with veterinary/medical knowledge who is comfortable giving shots and knows the symptoms of hypoglycemia in case my diabetic cat's condition changes. My veterinary referred me to Jewlie and I've been forever grateful. Jewlie sends me pictures and updates when she visits them which eases my guilt for leaving them on a long trip. She's reliable, professional and I would refer her to any of my friends in a heartbeat if they were looking for a pet sitter.

It's obvious CeCe loves dogs and made sure ours was treated like one of her own. This was what we were looking for. Didn't want our pet in some doggie prison.

Laura really came in for my family. I had five pet sitters cancel and I contacted Laura within one or two days of our weekend departure. She got back to me quickly and was available for communication whenever I reached out. She stayed at our home with our senior dog and two cats. The animals were well cared for and I felt safe with her in our home. Thank you Laura!

Emily was very personable and professional. She's obviously a cat lover and my cats are very social and need a pet sitter that really cares. I hope to hire her again in January and February and would recommend Emily absolutely to anyone on the eastside needing a pet/housesitter.

Britt is a great horse person, and I know from working in the industry how hard that is to find. I sought her out to do cross training, and improve my seat. She not only helped me tremendously maintaining my goals there, but she has also provided me with scores of valuable information that have improved my overall experience as a horse person myself. Britt is an incredible asset to the Wester Washington horse community, everyone can learn a lot from her.

My husband and I went on a two week road trip out of state to visit family. We needed a sitter to look after our two cats, one of whom has emotional attachment issues to the point that he develops health issues if he doesn't get consistent attention (he's even had to go to the hospital in the past). We are so, so thankful we found Angelica!! Angelica has pets on her own and "gets it"- she gave our cats (and two mice) consistent daily cuddles, food, water, and even cleaned the cat box for us. She also sent daily updates which we really appreciated. Our overly-attached kitty was happy as a clam when we returned; no health issues at all!! And all for a super reasonable fee. We will absolutely be using Leash the Dog Services again in the future!!

I had a previous bad experience with another cat sitter, and I was nervous about hiring someone new. This company has completely Relieved any of those worries that I had from my previous bad experience. Colleen showed up to my house on the first day for the meet and greet with a contract and an outline of what I expect and what she can expect from the service. She is extremely professional, kind and understanding. Not only did she look after my for babies, but she took very good care of my home. Going on vacation from here on out and leaving my cats alone will not be a huge worry some stress factor any longer due to this awesome and professional Company. Thank you thank you thank you.

Alexis is spectacular with our older, shy dog. He always wags his tail and trots right up to her front door when its time to drop him off for boarding, instead of dragging his feet as he always did with other sitters! As a bonus, Alexis sends lots of great pictures of him--way better photos than any we've taken!

Just like most of you reading this comment I was tired of having to put my two cats in boarding when I travel. I found P&P from my leasing office who said they were currently the go to pet sitters for our building. They were extremely professional, organized, and obviously love cats. Bingo and Price were totally relaxed upon my return unlike the normal I hate you showdown we usually have after boarding at the vet. I also loved the fact that they took the trash out and cleaned extremely well around the litterbox. I highly recommended their services.

Recently I had the bad luck of both my standing pet sitters moving out of Seattle. I hunted quite a bit for a new pet sitter and came across Morgan from Pit Stop. It's always hard to leave your dogs in the care of someone new when you go on trips, but upon meeting Morgan and seeing her interact with my two pit bulls, I knew she was a perfect fit for us. Morgan took excellent care of them for the long weekend we were away! She sent 2+ daily texts with pics of my pups during her time with them, during morning and evening stays, as well as their midday walks, which I appreciated immensely. She eased my mind while I was away knowing they were in good hands, and I came home to happy and well taken care of dogs. It was great to find a trusting pet sitter again and will be using Morgan in the future!

My horses get the best care possible at Cadbury farm. This is the happiest my horses and I have been at a boarding stable in my 20+ years of owning and boarding horses in the PNW. I've boarded there for over a year now and the feed, turnout situation, and arena footing is consistently nothing short of perfect. Barn owner/trainer Nichole is a pleasure to work with and a first rate instructor and horse trainer. My young horse is coming along beautifully with her help and my older competition horse is thriving under her care and and instruction. I ride eventing and my horse and I went from a "getting our dressage test over with so we could jump" mentality, to actually enjoying our dressage journey together.

I have been riding at THE RIDING PLACE on and off for about 3 years, the place has a lot of area, good outside small trails to get a horse used to our NW weather, and rider used to small changes in the riding trails, with small streams and ponds, that have ducks and other birds , it has a nice round pen out side, This place has events for young and old that are interested in horses. The owners are on site almost everyday, They too have horses there, The box stalls are 12 x 12 and joined up with large runs for their outdoor time too They have a indoor arena that has a view room for comfort for those not riding or if you would like some snacks or lunch, a big tack room! 3 nice wash stall areas, matted and one can watch riders too! I have enjoyed joining up with other riders and doing team things for holidays and schooling events! Trainers come there and help us, and give seminars! It is some times a time for extra learning and lots of caring and sharing!

Sarah took great care of our cat while we were away for a long weekend. We loved the picture & video updates and, most importantly, coming home to a calm, contented kitty! Sarah didn’t just come feed & clean the litter box; she spent quality time petting, grooming, and playing with him. She even watered the plants for us! We will definitely be calling on her again for future pet sitting needs.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

      • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
      • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
        • 45-minute visit: $28.
        • 60-minute visit: $32.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
        • 12 hours: $100.
        • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
