Introduction: I have over eight years of teaching and tutoring experience in math, physics, French, English and jazz piano. I have tutored all ages in the U.S. and in France (in both English and French). I scored 4 on both the AP calculus and AP statistics tests. I have toured internationally with my award-winning high school jazz band and a community college jazz band that I was a part of during high school. I did a three-month internship in semiconductor research in Nantes, France. I also worked for HBO (Home Box Office) as a project manager and software engineer. I have a B.S. in physics (honors) from Santa Clara University and actually double majored in physics and French. I studied abroad in Nantes, France for a semester in my junior year of college. I have always loved tutoring and working with people of all ages. I am a very good explainer, and I accurately address the deficiencies in a student's knowledge of a subject. Many members of my family are teachers, and I am very passionate about education. In college, I took the most challenging courses in math and physics on all topics ranging from vector calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, analytical mechanics, computational mechanics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, etc. and frequently helped others out with their homework. In high school, I played piano for two internationally traveling jazz bands, The Bellevue College Jazz Band played in China, Czech Republic, and Peru and my high school jazz band (the Roosevelt Jazz Band) played in Scandinavia and Europe, and also won first place during my senior year in the national Essentially Ellington jazz competition. In 2011 to 2012 in France, I taught English to full classes of middle and high schoolers, as well as one-on-one tutoring classes in English, math, and physics (I taught in both French and English). In 2012 to 2013, I worked as a project manager and software engineer for HBO. I am a kind, patient, precise and experienced tutor and would love to help you with whichever subjects are of interest to you!

Thanks to Scott, our 11 year old daughter was well prepared for 2 very challenging exams, which she passed with flying colors. She will also be well prepared for middle school thanks to the math review. He was always punctual and professional. Scott is terrific!

Scotty has been, hands down, my favorite piano teacher (and, due to the vagaries of youth, I've had quite a few.) He is always encouraging, kind, and enthusiastic about my progress learning jazz. As an adult learner, there's something about jazz that brings out my inner neurotic beast, and Scotty manages to quell that monster one week at a time. He does a wonderful job teaching music theory and practice habits, and always manages to come up with a pithy analogy for learning jazz principles. I truly enjoy piano lessons with him.
