Like many people, I only wear about 25% of my closet. I'm the kind of person that is extremely reluctant to get rid of clothing. When I do purge, I do my best to donate/resell instead of letting it end up in a landfill. However, I have many different pieces that I couldn't bring myself to get rid of, but still never really wore. I decided to use Emma Spring's styling services to bring new life to these clothes in a sustainable, creative way. Emma is extremely personable and friendly; when I scheduled my appointment, she went through my closet with me and asked me to pull any pieces that I love but rarely end up wearing. We went through each item carefully and she asked a few questions to learn what I liked about the clothes and what I didn't like. Being in a pandemic, I have gained some quarantine pounds so most of my issues stem from gaining weight & feeling uncomfortable, or that the clothes were no longer flattering on me. This can be a pretty vulnerable experience, especially with trying clothes on, but Emma is a true professional. I felt very comfortable in front of her and she offered great insights as to what cuts and styles are most flattering on my body. We brainstormed a couple ideas for upcycling together while she took measurements and jotted notes down. I just received my new outfits back and I'm truly blown away with how great each item turned out! Everything turned out exactly as we had discussed and it was all flattering and comfortable to wear. I feel great knowing that I can get renewed use out of these outfits without having to purchase any new clothing. It's great to upcycle by donating and letting someone else get use out of your clothes, but it's even better to get that use out of it myself and know it's not ending up in a landfill right away. It's also fantastic knowing that each of these pieces are one of a kind and custom made for my body and frame. If you are looking for any kind of update to your wardrobe, I highly recommend Emma Spring! She can truly work magic with your clothes and bring them new life.

Emma exceeded all expectations. She was efficient, discreet, & super competent. She also worked largely on her own, which was a huge relief in itself, to know we would not have to be personally involved in every micro-decision. She still checked in regularly & was transparent about what she did. I appreciated the labels on the cabinets & cupboards detailing what had gone where. :) Her design eye is excellent & her suggestions for layout & decor were extremely effective. I was really wowed by what a difference it made in our environment to implement just a few simple changes. I also appreciated that when she gave ideas or thoughts, it was without judgment or pressure. Best, however, was how she eliminated the chaos of our clutter. In 24 work hours, she was able to organize what would have likely taken us years to get through - if we ever even attempted it. In giving us a manageable environment, she gave us the freedom to enjoy making 'fun' changes in the home in the future, without the weight of the entire place still needing to be brought into order. My wife was tired of seeing my messy closet and called Emma Spring to help organize and downsize my clothes and shoes. Emma was very efficient, and explained to me the best way to keep my clothes tidy and well maintained. She created a simple system and guidelines for me to follow in the future. Emma Spring was also a considerate style consultant during the process, encouraging me to donate clothes that I didn't (or shouldn't) wear anymore, and help me build outfits around clothes I liked but didn't know how to wear. I had never really considered an organization service, and had no idea that it would be so valuable! My closet looks and feels way better now, and my wife loves the results too!

Like so many others I used my closet as the "junk drawer" of my apartment. Out of sight, out of mind was what I thought. This made finding specific items very difficult, if not impossible. What Emma was able to do was provide peace of mind. One less factor of stress to weigh me down. Not only did she completely re organize my closet (color coded, mind you), she was able to neatly and creatively provide alternative storing options for the shoes and accessories that were otherwise strewn about the bottom and top of the space. Professional and personable, Emma was a joy to work with.

I like to give my clients an hourly rate; I'll offer you an estimate of how many hours the project should take, and check in throughout the process to discuss how close to that estimate we should come! We'll work together to stay within your budget and scope.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I like to get to know my clients and their needs; everyone has different priorities, goals, and values for their home and wardrobe. During our initial consultation (in person or over video chat), I'll ask about your needs, assess the space, and provide my proposed solutions along with an estimate of cost, and make sure I'm addressing your unique concerns.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been a designer for major fashion brands in New York City, Charlotte, and Seattle for the last decade. My experience as a creative designer augments my natural obsession with organization. I love the challenge of creating aesthetically beautiful styling and effortlessly functional solutions that are unique to a person, their space, and their clothes.
