Introduction: I am a piano teacher in Greenwood, Seattle. I fell in love with the piano at age 3 and have never stopped playing. I am classically trained, and now perform professionally across the country, specializing in traditional folk music. I work to encourage the joy of music in my students. I work with both children and adults (and everywhere in between), tailoring each lesson to your needs and interests. I've been taking piano lessons with Amy for six months. Amy is a masterful teacher. She is very patient and encouraging and makes things, like musical theories, very understandable. She has the ability to listen and understand where I am in my learning curve and adjust her lessons to my skill level. One thing I really like about learning with Amy is that her teaching is very organized and at the same time, she's always encouraging me to develop my own feelings and styles when playing a piece. This is a very interesting process during which I can try a lot and feel a stronger connection with the piece I'm playing. Amy always schedules a 15-min meeting before start teaching a new student. In the interview, she will learn about your skill level, learning goal and tell you more details about her teaching. FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons out of my home studio are $30 for 30 minutes, $40 for for 45 minutes, and $50 for 60 minutes. If I travel to you, I add a travel fee of $10.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet with students for a brief complementary interview before getting started, to get an idea of the student's interests and goals. After the interview, if both of us determine it is a good fit, we schedule our first lesson!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied piano for 20 years, and studied Secondary Education at Brandeis University. I am a licensed classroom teacher in Massachusetts and New York, and combine my expertise in both areas for every student and lesson.
