Charla worked with my son and me on our mother of the groom/son dance. We could not have been more happy with our lessons with her. We have no dance background or experience, but Charla took our music, gave us some options of where to begin, and taught us step by step - kindly, gently, and encouragingly. With her expertise, we put together a dance that we felt comfortable with, and drew cheers and applause from the guests. Thank you so very much to Charla. I highly recommend her!

My husband and I had never taken any dance lessons but wanted to learn some moves for our wedding. We took a total of 3 lessons with Linda and were able to wow our guests during our first dance. Linda was such a great teacher. She was able to cater her instructions to our requests and needs, which was greatly appreciate since we had no experience. She was patient, knowledgable, encouraging, and most of all, she was fun! The atmosphere was light and comfortable and we had such a wonderful experience. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I started dancing at the studio 3 months ago. In one month, I was at my first competition with no previous dance lessons. Now people ask me how long I have been dancing and are really surprised I haven't been dancing longer. Natasha and Wes make otherwise difficult steps easy to learn in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Sergei is versatile person with incredible charisma, the veuw of the world×choreography. He has his own style, but he is always open for new experience. That is very important for his profession)

Could not be happier with dance lessons. I'm a poor dancer who had made significant process in a short amount of time. Gayle is very easy to work with and creates a comfortable environment for learning.

As a student of Simeon and Kora’s for the past two years, I can say that they are great teachers and more than qualified to teach wedding dance lessons to couples aspiring to do something original and beautiful for their first dance. Simeon and Kora are particularly good at teaching these kind of lessons because they always tailor lessons toward what you the student wants to get out of them, so if you want help coming up with a routine to a particular song you have chosen, or even need help picking one, want to learn some basic social dancing steps, or something else, they will help you make the most out of the experience. In terms of qualifications, Simeon and Kora are internationally recognized competitive ballroom dancers, but they also have many years of teaching experience and have put together countless shows and performances, both themselves and with students, so they really are experts in putting together show quality choreography. Simeon and Kora are flexible, easy to work with, and fun, so expect to have a great time learning your wedding dance! If in the process you should happen to get bitten by the “dancing bug,” Simeon and Kora will be able to take you to the next level to pursue further dance goals.

My wife and I found Natasha and LaVida Dance & Yoga Studio through Thumbtack. We were just over a week away from our wedding, and we realized that we needed help for our first dance—quick! Natasha scheduled us in for a three-hour private lesson at her studio. She assessed our skill level (beginners), and then worked with us through several moves. By the end, she had choreographed our entire dance to the song! We practiced at home a few times during the following week, and on our wedding day, we danced the whole song as choreographed by Natasha without missing a step! Our wedding guests were so impressed, and we owe a huge Thank You to Natasha for her patience and mastery of dance. We hope to take one of the many classes at LaVida Studio in the near future!

Before we moved out of the area, we enjoyed 2 years at MPAC! Each week the teachers were attentive, caring and my child loved going to dance each week. The June recital was a wonderful way to show off everyone's hard work. I would recommend anyone check out all the classes offered at MPAC!

Mari and Jordan choreographed my first dance with my husband for our wedding and provided lessons to learn the dance as well. It was a lovely experience working with them both and provided a safe, low-key environment for us. My husband was pretty self conscious about his dancing, but with Mari and Jordan's help he gained confidence and was able to relax and thoroughly enjoy himself! The availability and flexibility with timing for practices was wonderful and they provided their input while also taking into account the style and level of dance we wanted. I highly recommend working with Mari and Jordan!

You are stepping into the right class, if Alexa is your instructor. We just finished our final private dance lessons to get ready for our first dance and "bridal party flash mob" at our wedding. She worked with us patienlty as new dancers, and she was very talented at helping us understand dance. Alexa communicates clearly, and cares about her clients. You'll find that she knows how to teach just about any style of dance that you want to learn. She is approachable for asking questions. Most importantly, she makes learning how to dance a fun experience.

My experience, going to dances and taking lessons, both private and group, at the Verve Ballroom has been a very positive one. The owners and dance instructors are very welcoming and helpful. My private lessons with Za have enhanced my social dancing so much by his emphasis on teaching me technique, as well as patterns and effective follow methods. Terry's music at the dances is always fantastic. I would recommend the Verve to beginning and experienced dancers alike for a beneficial learning as well as social experience. Judith

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
