Andrey was great! He was responsive and honest about the service that he provides, something I greatly appreciate. We requested to have laminate floors done in the common areas and Andrey was able to complete the project within a reasonable amount of time (2-3 days) for our condo. This was a one person effort so I could imagine all the components to this type of project that he had to keep track of during the process. My only critique is that there were small nails and debris in the carpet where the old flooring was pulled, so it was a little nerve wracking at first to figure out where to step. Not too big of an oversight, but overall Andrey is great and we would love to hire him again for other flooring opportunities. Thanks again!

Cedo was communicative and did excellent work. He installed drywall in my ceiling that a plumber had to cut out; Cedo's work is seamless and his pricing was competitive (before and after pictures attached). I highly recommend him!

I COULD GO INTO GREAT LENGTH OF COMPLIMENTARY KUDOS ABOUT CHAD NICKLESS OF SIGNATURE TILE AND WHAT AN INCREDIBLE HONEST PROFESSIONAL HE IS AND THE AMAZING TILE AND REPAIR WORK HE DOES BUT THE LIST WOULD BE TOO LONG. SO LONG STORY SHORT, AFTER MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY I HAD TO HAVE THE CONDO REMODELED BY A CONTRACTOR WHO WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND HAD DONE WORK IN THE BUILDING WHICH I SAW AND NOT KNOWING ALL THE INTRICATE DETAILS WAS PLEASED WITH HIS WORK. LITTLE DID I REALIZE THE INTRICATE PART WAS THE PROBLEM AND THE ENTIRE BATHROOM WHICH I HAD HIM DEMOLISH AND TILE INTO A SHOWER ROOM WAS DONE SO POORLY AND NOT TO CODE CAUSING A MAJOR LEAK INTO THE PARKING AREA BELOW AND DAMAGING THE PAINT OF A CAR ALL OF WHICH I HAD TO REIMBURSE AND REDO. THANKFULLY SIGNATURE TILE ALONG WITH OTHER'S THAT I HAD CONTACTED CAME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY AND IN ALL ASPECTS AS FAR AS IMMEDIATE SERVICE TO CORRECT MY PROBLEM EFFICIENCY COST AND SINCERE EMPATHY AS WELL AS GOING THROUGH EACH STEP THOROUGHLY WITH ME I DECIDED THAT CHAD WOULD BE THE ONE FOR THE JOB. I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT HE AND HIS CREW NOT ONLY DID A FANTASTIC REDO OF MY REMODEL GONE BAD BUT THEY WERE SO KNOWLEDGEABLE CONSCIENTIOUS AND CLEAN AND GUARANTEED THEIR WORKMANSHIP WOULD HOLD FOR YEARS TO COME THUS THIS RECOMMENDATION OF UTMOST CONSIDERATION BE GIVEN TO THIS HIGHLY RESPECTABLE HONEST CRAFTSMAN HIS COMPANY AND CREW. BEST REGARDS FROM A VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER, MRS. DEIS

We can't praise Anthony enough for all the work he did for us to get our house ready to be put on the market. He did an amazing job with our fireplace - framing it with tile, building a custom mantel from wood, and painting the brick. He also replaced our sinks, old light switches, and installed custom skylight blinds. He did everything within time and budget and always had a professional and friendly manner. You can tell that he really cares about doing quality work. He wasn't satisfied until it was up to his high standard. We truly enjoyed having Anthony help us with our projects, and are so happy we found a handyman that we can trust to do excellent work.

In Reference to Igor Chirica: This testimonial is written as a critique of custom work which Igor has done in our lower basement renovation. My husband and I needed some tile work done for flooring, bathroom tub walls, as well as the fireplace in the basement. We had searched for a few months to find someone reliable, dependable & to finish a professional job. Igor fits that description to a tee. Not only was his work detailed, he listened to what our expectations were and followed what we desired in our design plan. He didn’t hesitate to question us on our project that he was not clear on understanding, then proceeded to do the job as it was desired. He’s a diligent worker who comes in to tackle the project at hand with pride for a job completed in professional detail. Would I recommend him? Certainly!!! In fact, we have future plans that will require an upper level renovation. We hope that when that time comes to place the tile down on our desired location plans, he will be available to execute the project. Thank you, Igor! Victor & Josi Moore

Our tile professional Taylor, arrived on time and went straight to work. He was also being shadowed by new trainees. I was struck by his words of wisdom to the trainee. "Take your time and do the job right so customers are happy and you don't waste their time by having to come back out to fix your mistake". Despite him training, he kept his focus on the task at hand and did a beautiful job. I would hire him to help with future tile jobs.

Very rare service, the most positive and pure experienced individual blessed by the holy BasedGod himself. He's like Moses when it comes to the exquisite art of laying down tile for all of your house aesthetic needs. Like Ricky is the equivalent of Benjamin Franklin when it comes to this flooring shit, a revolutionary! He should have his on YouTube channel solely dedicated to laying down tile, it would get hella likes fam, deadass! Stay blessed and continue doing work!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.
