I love my hour-long sessions with Mikaela. She’s clearly very knowledgeable about all things cello, and I especially appreciate how she always plays along with me to help me feel more comfortable and to demonstrate teachings effectively. I’m so glad she’s my cello teacher!

Mikaela is such a wonderful and gifted cello teacher. I have been taking lessons from her for over 3 years. She makes going to lessons enjoyable but also challenges me, and every lesson I am able to improve and know what to work on for the next week. She is very good at explaining different techniques in how to improve and caters to the way that you learn best. One of the best decisions I've ever made was to learn the cello in my mid-twenties and Mikaela has helped me achieve my goals.

Mikaela was very knowledgeable, but also totally appropriate and approachable for a new, teenage cellist. (I know she got my daughter to do things I would not be able to do and she kept helped her build confidence.) She also guided us in selecting instruments and supplies. She was always flexible and dependable.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices for lessons are fixed. There are no discounts or registration fees. Once per year there is a $50 recital fee to help cover the costs of recitals presented throughout the year. Students are expected to purchase the books needed for their lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Starting up lessons is really quite simple. A short conversation can go a long ways. Customers can ask for an in person or phone interview if they wish before starting lessons but is not required.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree in Cello Performance from Eastern Washington University where I also minored in music education. Also, I have had the privilege to win several concerto competitions and perform solos with the EWU Symphony Orchestra and the Spokane Symphony. During my career as a student at EWU I also received several gold medals at MusicFest for chamber music performances.
