Introduction: I use an individualized approach to each student. I teach piano technique that focuses on coordinated balanced movement for healthy playing and beautiful sound control. I teach music theory early on and ear train. I encourage students to understand the structure of the music they are playing and to create their own music.
I love watching the light bulb go on when students are "getting it" and the smiles on their faces when they accomplish what they set out to do.

Mary is a beautiful vocalist, performer, composer and highly skilled pianist. She teaches piano to all age groups and is a joy to work with. I've seen her perform (always wonderful!) on many occasions as well as taken lessons from her and would reccomend her to any venue or private party. She is positive, upbeat and uplifting.

Mary gives my 7 year old daughter (beginner) piano lessons. Rather than have one style she wants everyone to follow, she picks and chooses depending on need for the particular student. She teaches how to play with emphasis on good posture and position and encourages improvisation and song writing and playing by ear - that's not to say that sight reading is neglected, however. There is a nice balance. She's always very cheerful and patient, too.
