He did a very good job. He cleaned my entire house in an efficient and thorough manner, going over the heavy traffic areas multiple times. He was able to get older stains out of the carpet. He stuck with the quoted price, even with the extra time. Even though he pointed out the areas of wear on my carpet, he didn't push me into paying for those areas. I would hire him again.

Anthony did a fabulous job! I happily award him "Five Stars" in every category: communication, promptness, quality of work, and follow-up. He expertly cleaned a particularly troublesome carpet stain. His price was fair, and what he quoted was what I paid. No surprises! Best of all, he immediately realized who was in charge (Linus the Pomeranian) the moment he arrived, making Mama very happy!

Al could not have been nicer or more professional! I'm thrilled that he responded to my request so quickly and with a very reasonable price. I had a horrible oily stain left on the carpet from a recliner and he was able to completely remove the stain. The carpets look and smell great. Very pleasant, friendly person. I would highly recommend Al's Carpet Cleaning to anyone.

We had them do our carpets for a move out. They showed up on time, were very professional, took a look at a stain we had on the carpet and was up front and honest about whether or not he could get it out. We have 2 dogs and you wouldn't know it by how clean the carpets looked after they were finished. The price was very reasonable and I will definitely use them in the future. Ali is very quick to respond. It's a small business who takes pride in their work. I would chose them over the big name companies any time.

These guys were amazing. They did try out several options to remove different types of the stains on the carpet. Really liked the feeling of fresh carpet after the work was done.

Katie did a terrific job in cleaning up the discoloration of the tile grout lines and silicone that had been added. She even removed some of the more stained grout and replaced it adding to the quality of the overall job.

Andrey was great! He was responsive and honest about the service that he provides, something I greatly appreciate. We requested to have laminate floors done in the common areas and Andrey was able to complete the project within a reasonable amount of time (2-3 days) for our condo. This was a one person effort so I could imagine all the components to this type of project that he had to keep track of during the process. My only critique is that there were small nails and debris in the carpet where the old flooring was pulled, so it was a little nerve wracking at first to figure out where to step. Not too big of an oversight, but overall Andrey is great and we would love to hire him again for other flooring opportunities. Thanks again!

Chris did an amazing job patching a hole in our carpet as well as patching a stained potion from furniture where the stain would not come out. As a bonus he even removed some rust stains left from the bottom of our old recliner couch. We also have a little extra carpet just in case something else ever happens. Chris is friendly and professional and I would happily recommend him to anyone looking for help with their carpet!

Chris was professional and did a great job cleaning my carpet so I also hired him to do some cleaning in my former rental home that I was preparing to sell. Everything looked great downstairs but the upstairs left a little to be desired. Window sills were not clean like the sills on the main floor. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars

We had a great experience with Tony and Tim. From coming over to do the initial bid until the project was finished they were there every step of the way. We ran into other issues once the carpet removal occured and they spent the time to fix it and get it right, which I appreciated. Their attention to detail and fun attitudes really made them a pleasure to work with, would definitely hire again.

Mike did a lot of contract work in our daylight basement for us when we moved into our new house. He completely remodeled our bathroom, replaced carpets in rooms, put in new paint, set up new lights, and replaced a hideous bench with something better looking. He even set up our entertainment center and replaced our court lights. We were very pleased with how the final work came out (the way the basement looks is night and day), and we would employ him again for future contract work to make improvements to our house.

We had Advanced clean our church pews (about 30) and a few additional chairs. They arrived on time, worked efficiently and got the job done in just a few hours. They got some spots out that I thought were impossible. They were very knowledgeable about types of stains and what was needed to clean them. I pointed out a couple of small ones that came up after the material began to dry. They went back and got them right out. I highly recommend Advanced for cleaning pews in a short amount of time with minimal drying time and a good value.

I had a really good experience with Mauricio. He was very quick to respond with my initial inquiry and was willing to work with my schedule. We were closing on a house and didn't have 100% confirmation on when we would have the keys for him to do work. He was incredibly flexible through the whole process, even willing to work on his day off if it was the best day for me. When it came to work, he and his team were very fast and did exactly as promised. He was just hired for the removal of existing carpet and some tile not any installation work, but took care that the baseboards were preserved in perfect condition, the sub-floors were swept and vacuumed and all the carpet and pad rolled up and taken away. He's new to thumbtack, and working hard to build his business. I highly recommend.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.
