What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't think it's complicated. I try to make it as easy as possible to understand. If anyone has problems with it, I always like to know so I can adjust it to make it very easy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always reading up on things and doing my own type of research. I look at other photographers work and see what they do and how they do it. I get lots of ideas that way. I do lots of searching online for anything I need to know about my business.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It started as a hobby. I just fell in love with photo taking. I started out as a nature photographer, but ventured into portraits because of my youngest girl who loved having hers taken. I gradually came to love it as much, or more even, then nature photos.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I do mostly portraiture. I like to adventure out of my zone though.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I hired a hair and makeup artist to be on call for any clients wanting that service. She didn't have any photos to showcase what she did, so we set up two days of makeover and photo shoots for free. One of my friends who is disabled, was one of the models. She was so happy I picked her. She is ever so grateful to me for that. I gave everyone who modeled for me, a free photo. She was able to give her family and friends a nice portrait of herself as a Christmas gift. And her before and after photos are so great, I used them on my home page.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Take a really good look at the websites of people you are thinking of. Make sure they take photos the way you like them done. Everyone has their own style, make sure it matches yours. That way you are in a better position to be happy with the end result.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I take my job seriously. I want my customers to be happy with the photos I take of them and will take photos until they are happy.
