Introduction: I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Vancouver, WA.
I offer a full-service studio as well as on-location photography.
I am specializing in creating custom portraits for people who love life! I love capturing how a moment feel rather than just what it looks like. I strive to bring out genuine smiles and laughter and create images that showcase true personalities.
I have been in business for more than a decade and I'm constantly developing my skills and continue my education. What sets me a part from other photographers is my personality and character. I am pretty easy going and love connecting with people on a deeper level. Most of my clients say they feel really at ease in front of my camera and they have a lot of fun. I understand the awkwardness of having your photo taken, I understand self-doubt and not loving being in front of a camera. I promise to make it fun. I also believe in celebrating the small stuff, the moments in between, showing up anyway and simply existing in photos.

I hired Tara for a very special work event. People were going to be bringing their children in to have a photo with Santa. Not only did Tara meet all my expectations but she surpassed them. She brought the perfect lighting and a wonderful snowy backdrop. She also graciously offered to bring out a chair for Santa to sit in! Tara thought of every single detail. Her passion for her craft is second to none and she absolutely captured the spirit of the holiday. I have seen her give a presentation about her business and she showed wedding photos. She explained that at the end of every wedding she takes a photo with the bride and groom to remember the day. Tara is not only there to help make the event memorable, she is there to create her own memories too. She is sensational and I would highly recommend her.

My family and I had the distinct pleasure of working with Tara for a family portrait session a few weekends ago. It was a wonderful experience. Let me state an obvious/critical point first: the photos are incredible. Tara has a great eye for composition and framing and more importantly, capturing real emotion between family members. What I would also like to convey, however, is how enjoyable the experience of the photo session was. Tara is experienced and comfortable with children, and our two girls were immediately at ease. Not only did this lead to more natural photos, but it made the session a pleasure and not a chore. In addition, Tara was responsive, both before the session - providing helpful tips - but afterward in getting the images to us quickly. Now we are left in the enviable position of not only having too many great photos for our holiday cards, but for our general photo albums as well. I highly recommend Tara Thackeray Photography.

I choose Tara after using her a few years ago to take my sons first photos. This time I was able to get family photos with my children and I for Christmas. She was so great with my children getting my son who I cant even get to smile in photos to take great shots. I gave out the photos for Christmas and received so many compliments! I cant wait to use Tara again as I plan to do this every year. She is an amazing photographer and such a great person!

Tara was able to take my engagement pictures in such short notice. She is so kind and easy going, she makes you feel relaxed! She knows so many cool little places that you can get your pictures taken! I highly recommend her.

Incredible Wedding, and family Photographer in Vancouver Wa. Tara does an amazing job for families, newborns, engagements, and individuals. She just finished my head shots for my business, & they turned out great! I highly recommend her!
