New Job! New Drinks! More Posts!

So if you have been following my blog at all, and I thank you if you have, I have been bartending at Governor's Park Tavern for the past six months and have recently received a promotion to become a manager at Paramount Cafe downtown!! It is exciting but also makes me a little nervous, but this is my opportunity to really get into the business side and make the best drinks I can!!

So enough about that, I will be making a greater effort to share delicious cocktails, shots, and punches throughout the summer, including the new Gov's Park Tavern Summer Drink Menu as my last assignment before moving over.

As for today, I have a delicious summer drink I want to share with you today, the Italian Screwdriver

Italian Screwdriver:

o 1 ¼ oz. Svedka Citron
o 3 oz. OJ
o 1 ½ oz. Grapefruit Juice
o Splash of Ginger Ale

Very refreshing and perfect for this 93 degree Denver Day! Enjoy!

Mixing on a Warm Colorado Day!

I had a great morning of basketball and poolside fun in Denver, its currently about 85 degrees with just a little cloud cover and it reminded me of a great summer drink,
The Caribbean Screwdriver.

Caribbean Screwdriver
•¾ oz. Crème de Banana
•¾ oz. Malibu
•¾ oz. Peach Schnapps
•4 oz. OJ
•2 oz. Pineapple Juice
•2 oz. Cream

This is a great refreshment on a hot day like today and if you wanna change the flavors up a little bit try changing Creme de Banana and Pineapple Juice to Chambord or Raspberry Liqueur and Cranberry Juice for a Berry Blast. Can also change the Peach Schnapps and Pineapple Juice for Midori or Melon Liqueur and a Strawberry Puree for a Fruity Lifesaver.

Enjoy the Day and a cold one!

Kentucky Derby Sipper!

Saturday brings one of the most celebrated events in America, the Kentucky Derby. The most famous cocktail outside of a good bourbon on the rocks in Kentucky is the Mint Julep. It consists of muddled mint, simple syrup, a fine kentucky bourbon such as Woodford Reserve, and soda water. So, I thought I'd mix things up a little bit and make a fruitier, lighter mint beverage for this occasion. I call it a Hot Kentucky Summer Night and here it is:

3 Mint Sprigs
1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
1 oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon
(MUDDLE)
Ice
1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. OJ
4 dashes of Grenadine

I will be serving this beverage at Governor's Park Tavern this Saturday as an alternative to the Mint Julep and I think you should try one for yourself!

New Shot!

So last night at Illegal Pete's I made a shot called a Smokin' Bob Marley. I found the recipe on Drinknation.com, a great site for finding any drinks, shots, and even themes for certain drinks including holidays and movies. Here it is:

1/4 oz. Midori
1/4 oz. Goldschlager
1/4 oz. Jagermeister
Dash Bacardi 151
Sprinkle of Cinnamon

So you layer the Midori, then Goldschlager, then Jager. Float the Bacardi 151 and light the shot on fire. Then sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and let it carmelize. Blow it out and enjoy! More intense then most shots but a very nice cool cinnamon after taste. This will be one of the shots I will make for my drink menu party on January 29th at Illegal Pete's on the Hill, 1320 College Ave, Boulder from 4-11pm. Come down if you would like!

So this is the first weekly segment from Mr. Magic, the drink of the week. I will post a delicious shot or drink for you to try and I will only post things that are worth it, I promise. So this weeks is one from my new drink menu for Illegal Pete's, the Morphine Drip

Morphine Drip
1/2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
1/2 oz. Amaretto
Chill, Shake, Pour
Add 1/4 oz Floater of Bacardi 151 Rum
(Light if you would like)

Enjoy this shot, if you don't have the ingredients I would hope your favorite bartender could mix it up for you. Enjoy!
