What do you get when you combine talent, showmanship, originality, and experience... if you guessed T-Spoon & Leftfield you are correct. From Harlem N.Y. (now residing in Dallas TX) these music ambassadors are just what your event, and airwaves need to get you going, day or night.
Whether getting the party started by opening for nationally syndicated radio DJ, Steve Nice at venues such as House of Blues and the Ghost Bar in Dallas TX, or bringing down the house with the legendary Kool DJ Red Alert at Super Bowl and NBA All-Star events, T-Spoon and Leftfield have proven that they can rock any demographic without missing a beat. With their music influences ranging from Marvin Gaye, Hall & Oates, Jackson Five, Charlie Parker, Def Leppard, RUN-DMC, TI, Notorious BIG, Phil Collins, Doug E Fresh, Tupac, Katy Perry, Usher, and Lady GaGa, along with over a decade of professional music business experience, it’s no wonder that Spoon and Left are able to entertain any crowd for hours.
From their earlier years, during the late 90s, Spoon & Left spent their time traveling and doing shows and events in New York, Virginia, Los Angeles, North Carolina, District of Columbia (DC), Colorado and South Carolina. After receiving formal training at Queen Broadcasting Center in New York under the tutelage of ‘The Duke’ Johnny Allen, Spoon and Left felt it was time to take their training to higher heights. Rather than proceeding with the traditional radio format, T-Spoon and Leftfield coupled their experiences of live performances, overwhelming showmanship, and a vast selection of good music, to create for themselves the ability to DJ for any demographic or venue across the globe. They have been contracted to do sweet sixteen parties, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs weddings, and even the occasional high school prom in order to stay relevant with the new generation. No job or event is too large or too small for them. Spoon & Left used these events as a way to build up their technical repertoire and gain valuable Djing insight which enables them to play any crowd.
After Moving to Dallas, TX in 1999, T-Spoon & Leftfield started doing music-bed, and introduction promo songs for on air radio personality, DJ Steve Nice of K-104. From 2001-2005, they also produced promo’s for Skip Murphy & Company on K-104’s #1 morning show. The duo also wrote and produced the theme song for Skip Cheatham's Flav TV show which appears WB 33 in 2004. In 2005, T-Spoon & Leftfield signed an endorsement deal with Budweiser as a “Budweiser True Music Artist” to promote the Budweiser brand and travel as True Music Artist in different venues across the country. When they aren’t traveling to do other events, Spoon and Left perform as resident DJs for some of Dallas’ top clubs. They have the experience and energy necessary to satisfy radio program directors, music directors, club owners, promoters, event planners, or your average everyday client. In other words, “THEY CAN ROCK A CROWD ALL NIGHT LONG”
In 2004, while Leftfield was in Japan Tokyo, T-Spoon researched the internet in hopes of landing an endorsement deal for the group. Spoon’s first attempt was successful as he contacted up and coming Sports Apparel Company Sunday Players. Sunday Players CEO, and 2007 Attorney of the Year; Daryl K Washington (radio-show Michael Baisden attorney) created the Sunday Players sports brand for athletes of all ages and levels who want to look good, feel good and play great. T-Spoon and Leftfield went on to record jingles and customized songs for Sunday Players distribution presentations while building the best family base relationship with Daryl Washington, Curly Kelly and Izell Reese.
After 2006, T-Spoon and Leftfield independently pursued other business opportunities; Leftfield went on to merge Koast2Koast Records (a record company started by Spoon and Left) with D-Town Music Group. Taking on the role of COO, D-Town Music Group (DMG) in 2009 would secure a distribution deal with Bungalo Records/Universal Music Group Distribution. Leftfield using his childhood connections (Jungle Brother Mike-G, Red Alert, and Turk) was able to gain the attention of Violator Management/Brand Asset Groups CEO Chris Lighty. This connection along with KLM Distribution (Ian D’Souza) would create a strategic business alliance to explore global endorsements in music, consumer packaging and technology (with a key focus on India).
T-Spoon went on to perform at many major A-list celebrity functions. Spoon along with his counterpart and business partner, DJ Steve Nice formed the Steve Nice Academy. The mission of the Academy is to sharpen the talents of a new generation of DJs, singers, rappers, dancers, and future music executives, and help them reach their dreams. T-Spoon and Steve Nice have performed at the 2010 NBA All-Star and Super Bowl XLV parties and events that were hosted in Dallas, TX. T-Spoon has been spotted bringing down the house at the following celebrity events: Jamie Foxx, Cedric the Entertainer, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Lebron James, Alan Iverson, Chris Bosh, and Russell Simmons, just to name a few.
