Scott and his company helped me move yesterday, primarily heavy furniture left over after I had packed away all my boxes. Scott brought an assistant, they arrived on time with a professional trailer and moving equipment, including professional grade plastic wrap and moving pads/blankets. I found them easy to work with, Scott communicates well and takes pride in his business. Costs were explained up front ahead of the move, and came out below other moving companies in the area by ballpark $100-200 for my needs. The move itself was hassle-free, I only needed to point to what I wanted to move and they handled it all. They carefully wrapped my delicate furniture and took care while loading and unloading everything, which included a very old and heavy piano, as well as an antique glass china cabinet. I was impressed by how efficient they were, and I would recommend them to absolutely anyone. You won't find a better company with their pricing and work ethic in the area.

Mark, Nate and Johnny were amazing. They all immediately introduced themselves, looked at everything that needed to be moved and attended to everything with the upmost attention and care-as if they were moving their own furniture. When I have to move again, I will only want them to move me. Thank you to all.

The contractor, Rigo, was hired to empty out an apartment that was full of trash, food, soiled furniture, etc. It was every landlord's nightmare situation. He bid the job, showed up when he said he would and even though there was more garbage than he anticipated, he cheerfully stated he would take care of it and he did and at the agreed upon price. I would rate him as very conscientious, a very hard worker and may hire him to repair a hardscape as well.

I was extremely satisfied with using M&L to move! This was our first time using movers and I was shocked by the low price and value you get from this company. The movers were early and surveyed our apartment quickly before created the best plan of attack. They communicated with questions throughout the process and we made decisions, collectively, to prioritize items for safety and efficiency. Larry was extremely impressive to me, as the owner and obvious leader during the moving process. He was incredibly skilled at managing breakable and large furniture and managed his employees to maximize the space he had in the truck. Our move was more challenging as the apartment we were moving in to had a hill between the parking lot and the doors. Larry was honest about the increase in time it would take to perform the job due to this situation and updated me throughout. M&L also assembled and disassembled furniture and placed it in the specific area requested. I will absolutely recommend M&L to anyone who asks and will use them again when moving!

Delphia responded to my request to move some furniture right away, and we arranged to do it the next day. She said they would be at the seller's site between 2 and 3 pm and at 2:20 she texted me to let me know that they were 5 miles from the seller. She had two guys with her and they had the sofa, chair and ottoman loaded in onto their pick-up in about 10-15 minutes. They brought the stuff to my place and had it unloaded in a short time. They were professional and yet, very personable. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

I highly recommend University Mover’s Services. They were so professional and experienced. From start to finish, University Movers made my moving experience pleasant and so efficient! I had a lot of old and heavy furniture that the movers handled so well, particularly with the extensive stairs and small entrance ways on the property. Thank you for such a smooth moving experience this weekend!

I asked him to help out moving large furniture from a basement and load it into a moving truck. We were unsure if the truck was big enough even to fit everything. Robert was very flexible in his scheduling, and had finished the job in a very timely manner. I was not there, but he met with my son-n-law, who advised they were great and were able to get everything in the truck without any damage. Would hire again.

I hired Madison Liquidators to move some heavy furniture. Kelly took care of the paperwork and payment over the phone. This all went smoothly and professionally. The hourly estimate was not short so I did not have to come up with additional monies. The hourly rate was fair. I was very happy with the two movers who came equipped with more than one type of dolly. They were careful (this was heavy furniture) and took their time to use the right equipment. They were not slow but were not rushing like other movers I have used (to get to another job). They placed the furniture where I wanted it at the destination. All went very well. I have moved a lot over the years and this company rates at the top of movers in Madison. I will use them again, and recommend them.

Johnny and a friend moved some very heavy pieces of furniture for me through some very tricky angles. They were quick and efficient and the most affordable price I could find. I would recommend them if you are looking for some solid movers.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
