Tony completed the exterior painting of my house and did an amazing job. The project was started on the agreed upon date and completed well in advance of end date. Every day he cleaned up the job site before leaving. I would recommend Tony for any job because of the quality of his work and politeness towards customers and their property.

We're very happy we hired Gilbert to fix a plaster ceiling with a skim coat and texture. While here, he also fixed a wooden storm door. He promised our complete satisfaction and delivered on time at a great price.

Arben painted two bedrooms for me in two days. He did walls and trim in both rooms and painted the ceiling in one of them. He properly prepped the trim by sanding and caulking. It all looks great. Very professional.

Tim did a great job, going above and beyond in our bathroom and giving a fair price to include painting the ceiling and trimming. He got through everything in a short period of time and it looks great!

We hired Lyndell to patch up some spots on our bathroom ceiling where paint was chipping and surface mold was growing. We had our entire bathroom remodeled a little over a year ago but come to find many corners were cut leaving us with small issues piling up. Lyndell was prompt to respond to our initial request. When my husband and I finally met Lyndell he was very thorough and extremely knowledgeable. He provided great details. Answered all our questions. Calmed my anxieties about our mounting bathroom problems. The work was quality and a great value. I wish we had hired Lyndell for our initial remodel. He has so much expertise. My husband and I would fully recommend him.

Painting Highly recommend Steamatic for painting and repair services. Own a wood shingle and stone two story house in need of routine painting. Steamatic offered me the lowest price. They started the job in about two weeks which was great because it gave me time to decide on what color paint for the siding and trim and buy it myself. Took them about a week to finish the house and by the time the weekend came around, had the house looking like new! Called Bo that Sunday to see if his crew could fix some roof shingles an re-attach a gutter with new clips. They came out later that week, finished the repairs in about two hours and actually painted my mailbox at no additional cost to match the house. Really suggest you give these guys a call. Nice people , hard working and know their stuff. Jerome W

This was the best experience we've had with having work done on our house. Absolute professionalism, clean, tidy and always punctual. They did a fabulous job of painting the outside of our house and then painting the interior. We are thrilled. They knew exactly what they were doing and had all the tools they needed. Such nice guys too. We will not hesitate to recommend them and they will be our 'go to' guys in the future. Thank you IHOR.

I have a railing at the top of my staircase that I wanted painted. It was solid white and I wanted it decorated. The Old Faux did a lovely marbled effect on the posts-exactly what I was hoping for. The women of The Old Faux were a pleasure to work with. They suggested colors to coordinate with my walls and rug, worked quickly and neatly, and were professional in all matters. I have a fireplace mantle that I will have them decorate next. I highly recommend The Old Faux for decorative painting of interiors or furniture.

I had the good fortune of discovering Roerdink Remodel through a business associate in the spring of 2017. At the time, what I needed was a handyman for a new investment property, and Dan Roerdink quickly showed his skill, professionalism, timeliness, insight, and good humor. Since then, I've purchased another investment property, this time a 2-Family, and Dan has become my right-hand man. He's done everything from plaster repair to custom carpentry, light electrical to plumbing, custom door framing / cutting / installation, window replacement, painting and lighting. Dan is truly an excellent contractor, a cut above the rest. Several of my clients in Property Management are now hiring him as well, with equally impressive results. If you're fortunate enough to find Dan with time in his schedule for your project, I would seize the opportunity! Feel free to contact me via Facebook for my business with any questions or to confirm the veracity of this review. - Kurt P. Coffin, Owner of Summit Property Management of Sheboygan.

I believe in Giving a quality job at a fair price. There are a lot of people out there painting but not everyone can do a superior job. Attention to detail this my specialty.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
