I have taken ballroom lessons at this studio for a little over two years and still love every minute of it. My teachers are Slash Sharan and Sergey Smolin, who are both patient, personable, funny, and very knowledgeable! I am also so thankful for them b/c they are understanding of my crazy schedule, financial limitations, and passion for the artistic side of dance. I focus moreso on competitive dancing, and I love the challenge that I still feel with each lesson but at the same time have fun and feel that I continue to grow as a dancer. I am also the most physically fit than ever before. The great thing about this studio is its versatility. Every instructor has the personal and professional skills to help a student be a better performer, social dancer, competitive dancer, etc. There are also many avenues for your dancing; you can just take lessons and have fun with those in and of themselves, perform at a small Friday night practice party or a big stage at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, dance at Practice Night, which simulates a competition scene (this is unique to the studio), compete at a small regional competition or a big national one in Puerto Rico, or prepare a dance for your wedding. I have much respect for the instructors here b/c it is not an easy task to teach someone the intricacies and physics/mechanics of dance, but the teachers make it seem effortless, along with their endless patience. I have known Slash and Sergey for a while, and they are genuine people who are passionate about what they do (teaching others how to dance and also dancing/competing themselves). It is heartwarming to be part of this group of people. My dance tip for anyone who joins the studio is to practice on your own what it is these instructors teach you. The information is so valuable. Most people here take the 40-minute private lessons (although there are group classes, too), and you can move at your own pace. If you work on this beautiful craft, you will find yourself growing more than you ever thought you would, and it makes you feel good about yourself and motivated to be even better than what you were before. It also helps that these instructors are committed to helping you achieve success and to ensure that you feel happy with your dancing. Overall, I am very happy here, and dancing has done wonders for my health. I feel blessed to know these people who have a positive and passionate attitude towards dance and life. I recommend it to anyone!

Truly a top notch place to go to if you want to learn to ballroom dance. You can keep it social or you can venture into competition and showcases. The staff works really hard to support you in any way they can and the instructors are unbelievably skilled. They offer different ways to practice what you learn by hosting a practice party every Friday where you get to dance with other students and other instructors. They also bring well known choreographers from this region as well as TV celebrities to coach you into a higher level of dancing if you would like to give that a try. There's something for everyone, whether you are a beginner or going back to refresh and relearn. They are always happy to work with engaged couples who want to learn something truly special for their wedding dance. Not only you have a lot of fun,and get to make new friends who share a passion for dance, but it's an excellent way to stay fit as well. I encourage you to give it a try!

This is the best place to learn to dance. I've been a student at the Brookfield Studio for 5 years now and have collected countless wonderful memories of performances I never thought I could do myself. Whether you are there for social dancing or want to compete regionally or nationally, they have the infrastructure to prepare you for every step of your dancing journey. Along the way you make tons of friends who share the same love of dancing. Their instructors are top notch, and I am very fortunate to have had one of their best, Mr. Slash Sharan, from day one. I truly appreciate how he strives to figure out my style of learning so that I can get the most out of each lesson. There's always something new to learn, something more to perfect, so you can always feel the improvement and the progress in your dancing. Kiss your excuses goodbye, and ask yourself: "When was the last time you tried something new?"

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our lessons and lesson packages are based on each of our students or couples individually as everyone is interested in doing something different. Upon joining us for your first introductory dance lesson and allowing our instructors to get to know you and your interests, your instructor will present you with lessons and packages that best suit what you are looking for or looking to do in the dance world.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In joining us as a new student(s), your first private dance lesson with Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield will include touring our facility, meeting and getting to know your instructor as he/she works with you to understand your interests, learning the basic steps to 3 or 4 of our most popular social dances - Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Push Pull, and, of course, enjoying yourself!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our professional dance instructors are certified through Fred Astaire Dance Studios via the National Dance Council of America and under go tests on a regular basis to keep up with the latest skills and dance knowledge. For more information on this please visit NDCA.org
