Benjamin hung pictures for me in my new condo. Having no artistic talent myself, I counted on him to help me with placement and to make sure everything was secure and straight. He was wonderful! When I suggested something that really wasn't good, he gently made an alternative suggestion. Both my husband and I had lots of little things to hang in our offices. They now look very professional and impressive. I would not hesitate to hire Benjamin again, no matter what the job. His skill and professionalism make him irreplaceable.

Anthony, along with his crew, did a wonderful job repairing and painting our 60 year old house. Several boards, columns, and pieces of trim needed to be repaired and they did an excellent job! From power washing to final clean-up we are very pleased!

I did a wooden deck re-painting. All preparation and paining activities were done with good quality and the price was better than other quotes. Bill started and completed the project on-time as planned and even did some “extras” for me without additional charge (fixed the bench and power washed the wall). I would consider Bill for the future home improvement projects.

Look no further than Jamie Neuy for all of your painting needs. He painted the outside of our home. He and his crew did a wonderful job, very meticulous, and it definitely shows. He was always on time and even worked a weekend to get our job done on time. Very pleased with his creative work and would highly recommend his painting services to others. Thank you Jamie!

Painting Highly recommend Steamatic for painting and repair services. Own a wood shingle and stone two story house in need of routine painting. Steamatic offered me the lowest price. They started the job in about two weeks which was great because it gave me time to decide on what color paint for the siding and trim and buy it myself. Took them about a week to finish the house and by the time the weekend came around, had the house looking like new! Called Bo that Sunday to see if his crew could fix some roof shingles an re-attach a gutter with new clips. They came out later that week, finished the repairs in about two hours and actually painted my mailbox at no additional cost to match the house. Really suggest you give these guys a call. Nice people , hard working and know their stuff. Jerome W

This was the best experience we've had with having work done on our house. Absolute professionalism, clean, tidy and always punctual. They did a fabulous job of painting the outside of our house and then painting the interior. We are thrilled. They knew exactly what they were doing and had all the tools they needed. Such nice guys too. We will not hesitate to recommend them and they will be our 'go to' guys in the future. Thank you IHOR.

Our living room and kitchen had cracks in the ceiling and walls before it could be painted. It looked as if the previous owners tried to fix it, but they did not know what they were doing. Steve came to our house gave us some options about how he could fix the walls before he painted. He was patient and didn’t force us into making a decision. He did a great job fixing the cracks and painting. We couldn’t even tell there were cracks before. He was very professional and cleaned up after himself. He was very easy to talk to and answered all of our questions. He explained what he was doing in terms we could understand. When he was all done it looked amazing.

SHOULD GET 10 STARS! • Had some interior painting done - 3 rooms and a hallway • Prompt response to request for quote, came to house so quote would be more accurate • PROFESSIONAL demeanor yet friendly and personable--a pleasure to work with • Flexible - were able to fit my project into their schedule according to my needs, even after I added a room to original quote • Accommodating - kept in touch so that we were all on the same page about materials, timing and details • Punctual - quote and project completion were on schedule as promised • Work was done quickly - and they were METICULOUS - a FIRST CLASS JOB • Excellent clean up and return of furniture to original spots • I would definitely recommend them to anybody and WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RE-HIRE

Needed cracks in the driveway repaired and after a conversation was told they are expanding into others areas of the business like pressure washing, painting, siding. Our conversation also included we were selling the house and moving out of state. Jeremiah reassured me they could do the work. I have since then left the state but my husband is there finishing details. We have had several dates with this contractor and the work is still not done. After reading the reviews, work is continuing on his end but I guess my job was minor and could be skipped and forgotten. I get that Wisconsin has had a lot of rain but the rain didn’t seem to stop other jobs. This tells me that this company will go beyond for big jobs but little jobs are not important. I did not like the fact that my texts and emails were not answered and from the reviews it happened to other people as well. Our initial work date was August 20, which he forgot he was suppose to be there. If you are going to be in business, then be a professional. Customer service is very important to me. I heard from him a couple of times but how long did he really expect us to wait? It just makes me wonder did he really have all the materials to perform my job? How do you pick up materials and never go to the site?? Don’t waste your time with this contractor because he sure wasted mine.

I was very fortunate to find Mars Painting on Thumbtack. We needed painting within a week before moving into our new home. Mario and his crew fit us in the next morning, between other projects. His pricing was competitive and his quality of work was excellent. I'd highly recommend him!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
