FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I love keeping up to date with the latest web standards. I'm always reading books and articles, learning as I go. Web design has changed so much since I graduated from the Web Developer program so I have to keep up with it all. It's an always changing field but that keeps it interesting and exciting! Lately I have been learning everything I possibly can about social media so I can further help small business owners with their web presence via online tutorials, classes, and tutoring. My formal education includes: Bachelor in Computer Science | Lakeland College Associate in Individualized Technical Studies | MPTC Web Development Technical Diploma | MPTC Microsoft Office Suite Certificate | MPTC
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
The Web Developer bug hit in the summer of 2000 when I took two Web Developer program classes at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac. My intent was to make a website for a friend's business. I soon realized there was much more to Web development than I'd learn in two classes and I enjoyed learning so much, so I just kept taking more classes. By December of 2002 I had earned a Technical Diploma and Associates Degree. I formed my own Web design business in 2003 and later that year began taking classes at Lakeland College near Sheboygan. By December 2005 I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. These days I also do social media coaching because I love helping small business owners find their web presence and watch their businesses succeed.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I mostly help small business owners and solo-preneurs however I can use those same skills to help larger businesses. The size of the business really doesn't matter. The skills of the web developer are what's most important. I also do custom Facebook landing pages for small business owners. The custom landing page is like a mini-website within Facebook. We can even add e-commerce functionality to the Facebook page so you can sell your products directly from Facebook. They are great for anyone who doesn't already have a website or if you just want to take advantage of the power of Facebook.
