Great experience with them. Had them come out to clean our gutters and assess one gutter that needed repair. The gutters ended up needing very little cleaning so they did not charge us anything. Explained how the broken gutter needed to be replaced, why it needed to be, and exactly how much we should look to spend when looking for quotes for that work with them or anybody else. Highly recommend and will be using them again

American Bonded worked at replacing some rotted wood on my roof due to a water leak and then replacing the shingles on my roof. Fred gave me an initial quote and then responded to additional requests I had for replacement of gutter flashing, etc. as well as relocation of some of my roof vents, all without changing his original quote. He communicated with me throughout as to the water damage and overall condition of the roof that he was finding as the job went along.

I neeed a professional that had experience working with rubber roofs to fix a leak near the chimney. First Response Roofing came out the same day I called to give an estimate. Not only did I need work near the chimney, there were multiple areas on the roof that needed repair. I also had gotten 3 other estimates, and First Response Roofing was one of the lower priced ones. I liked that First Response Roofing informed me about the overall condition of my roof. After looking at the roof myself, I could easily see the areas that needed additional repair. First Response Roofing fixed the leak near the chimney and corrected issues that resulted from improper installation of the original rubber roof, without adding any additional charges. Job well done.

Great job. Two days for full tear off resheet and roofing. Rained pretty hard the first night with no leaks in the tarping they did. Very clean and not even any damage to the plants. A very professional crew. The neighbors like the new roof as much as I do.

Jeff was great with my drywalling and insulation project. He completed phase 1 and will be completing phase 2 and also insulating my attic in the spring. Jeff was professional and was meticulous with the job and the clean-up. Jeff was also very reasonable and I will be recommending him to family and friends.

Sam and team at LoneStar were amazing! We had a leaky skylight and had some issues with our gutters. I called Sam at LoneStar Roofing, and he showed up promptly and gave me a free and reasonable estimate for the job, quickly diagnosed the problem and walked me through the details of the work that needed to happen. Even though it is busy season for roof work, Sam and his team committed to completing the job within the week and that is exactly what they did. Within a few days from the estimate, we had our skylight flashing replaced, gutters fixed and while they were up there with their 60 foot ladder on our 3 storey home they took care of any other maintenance issues that they noticed at no extra charge. I plan on using team LoneStar for any future roof issues (hopefully none) and would highly recommend them to others who are looking for a reasonable, quality, professional roofing experience.

We had selected Xpert Project LTD to replace the roof on our garage in May '16 after getting 5 quotes. Agnes and John were great to work with. Crew was always on time and courteous and did a great job, including clean up. Did not find one roofing nail or other debris anywhere! Thank you - for our future projects we will be in touch again with Xpert!

We hired Steamatic for some drywall repair and painting as well as carpet cleaning. Alex and his team did a great job on the drywall and painting. They were able to match the texture that was already there and we were very pleased with the finished look. We were also very happy with the carpet cleaning.

Great company! Not only were they all very professional from the start but kind as well. I was very pleased, completed it in a timely matter, end product was great and unlike some other roofing companies they made sure to clean up after themselves. I would recommend PM Construction to anyone in need of a new roof!

I had a great experience with Peter Pryce and Quality Way roofing company. They did a great job on my roof, which ended up having some pretty serious problems. There were water issues which was causing mold in the house. Not anymore!! I felt the price was competitive, the work was very high quality, and I loved the warranty they provided. Even with the crazy snowstorm that set things back a little, they were able to get it done in a timely manner. I will definitely be using them again and recommend them to my friends. Thanks Pete!

I will highly recommend this roofing company. They replaced my entire roof down to the deck and installed brand new high quality plywood. They are very professional and really know what they are doing. Dave Miller is the person I dealt with. Very honest business owner. He gave me the correct advise on how to move with my roofing project. Absolutely no rip off business. They arrived on time and got the job done on time. I had couple minor problems during the work but it was very well professionally addressed and I got reimbursed with no questions asked. Their pricing is very competitive. I would highly recommend home owners to contact APR contracting first before talking to other contractors. Thanks.

This is my second experience with Toutant Home improvement. Both times were absolutely worth it. First was new roof, the second new fence for my property. both times Eric and his crew demonstrated complete work ethics in the area of quality, value, and professionalism the price wasn't bad either. I'm so happy I found someone trustworthy to do all the jobs I've been putting off. Pam Lorentsen

Contacted Steve @ Phoenix, he returned my inquiry immediately. Scheduled our repair request. Upon inspection told me I had storm damage. He worked with my insurance carrier and got me an entire new roof for only my deductible! Crew was excellent. In and out in 1 day. Cleanliness was good too. Overall couldn't be happier

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
