I came across Steve Byer in my pursuit to find the perfect GRE prep course. I spent 10 hours working with Steve and it was the best decision I made. Not only were Steve’s services a fraction of the cost of big name companies like Kaplan, Manhattan Prep, Princeton Review, etc. But also, I benefitted from the one-on-one nature of Steve's tutoring service. I am NOT a confident test taker, and especially when it comes to standardized tests. Steve was instrumental in helping to ease some of the anxiety I had and also tailored our program to focus on the areas in which I needed the most work. Steve is extremely qualified and was never judgemental regarding any questions or concerns I had. When I first started working with Steve, my practice test scores were in the 140s. I saw incredible improvement over the course of the next 4 weeks. Thanks to Steve, when I sat for the actual test, I received the highest scores of any practice test I took during my time working with Steve. I couldn't be happier with the time and dedication Steve put forth on my behalf. I am ecstatic with my scores and unbelievably grateful that I will not need to take the GRE for a second time. Thank you, Steve!! Finally, I want to emphasize how passionate Steve is toward his students. He was 100% available to me outside of scheduled tutoring hours and was more than willing to answer questions and look over work during his free time. There were many times in which he checked in with me to see how I was progressing. This dedication would not occur with a larger company like Kaplan or Princeton Review. I highly recommend Steve to anyone who is seeking help for standardized tests and/or tutoring in any academic areas. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Steve!! -Kelly B. Karin joined Insight Education only a few weeks before our SAT/ACT Test Prep Intensive Boot Camps were about to start. But she just came in took a test, excelled at it, got the curriculum and conquered the class! We really didn't have to worry about anything with her in the classroom. She would always be prepared with the daily class agenda and assignments and knew exactly what she wanted from her students on each class day- for a class as well as one-on-one tutoring. I don't think i ever remember her fumbling on a grammar concept or not being able to correctly explain anything related to SAT/ACT English to the students. The feedback we got from students and parents was phenomenal- they loved her pedagogy! Excellent score improvements across students on our weekly diagnostic tests.

Andy is a truly gifted tutor! He helped my 12th grader in AP Physics turn her failing grades into A work! He completely demystified the work and helped grow her confidence! I will be using him now with my youngest daughter in Algebra and look forward to the same results. I am sure he will continue helping my oldest in college as well. Thank you Andy you are a life saver!

My daughter received excellent score of 780(scale of 800) on New SAT-Math thanks to Mr. Patel's expertise. Her previous score was 610. We were struggling to find the teacher for New SAT. She is not fond of word problems and gets frustrated. But Mr. Patel was able to make concepts much simpler and easier to understand. We also signed up for his College Consulting Service, where his team of professional coaches work with us one on one at a fraction of the cost. We are very satisfied and definitely refer Mr. Patel to my friends and family. Thanks Mr. Patel for your support.

I could not have been happier with the results from using More Than S.A.T. in preparation for the ACT. While my older children had used other prep courses for the ACT with satisfactory results, I decided to make a change for my youngest child. More Than S.A.T. had a more unique approach to studying for the ACT. More Than S.A.T’s academic coach was able to tailor a study program specific to my son’s strengths and weaknesses. What’s more, the consultant’s suggestions as to how to manage the test, while taking it, were very beneficial. The result: a 6 point increase. Thank you, More Than S.A.T.!

I used Matt as a tutor for my college level algebra class. I've always struggled with math and Matt was very patient with me even when I had a hard time understanding the material. I'm the type of person who has a hard time asking others for help and Matt didn't make me feel dumb about not knowing the answer. I wish I would've had a tutor in high school because I've really learned a lot and my grade truly reflects the outstanding tutoring I received from Matt. I am so thankful for the help from Matt and I really liked that his schedule was open enough for me to meet at different times when I needed access with homework help or test prep. If you are thinking about hiring a tutor Matt is your guy- you won't be sorry!

Charlie tutored my son for the ACT and did an exceptional job. He worked with him both on general test taking skills as well as the specific areas where he needed the most help. Charlie is great at working with boys who do not have the longest attention span, as well as those who may not feel they "need" tutoring. He really caters his tutoring style to what he believes will work best for that student. Charlie is also very flexible and was able to work in tutoring time around my son's other activities. After working with Charlie, my son felt much more confident in his ability to do well on the test and improved his scores significantly in all areas. We will be using him again for my daughter in a couple of years.

John is like a family member to our family and has been tutoring my girls for about 6 years or so on subject courses as well as ACT prep sessions.. He started tutoring my oldest when she was in high school. Thanks to John's expertise teaching skills with his ACT prep tutoring sessions, my daughter's ACT test score jumped to 8 points from her pre-test score. My youngest daughter is now taking ACT prep sessions with John and gains more and more confidence after each session with John.. John possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. He has a great rapport with my daughters and is articulate. John is always prepared for every tutoring session and is ready to teach with a smile. John is confident, knowledgeable and reliable. John has successfully demonstrated his awareness of different learning styles and has adequately adjusted assignments to meet my daughters' varied needs. Net, I highly recommend John without reservation!

Kate is professional, enthusiastic and well organized. We are using her for English and Reading ACT prep. In advance of the first lesson, she asked to see my daughter's test scores to prep for the session. She also asked to speak with her in advance to establish a rapport--both were a nice touch and left a great first impression on my daughter. She pinpoints areas of focus and lays out specific homework assignments to shore up areas that need improvement. She is dedicated and continuously does things that go just one more step than the other tutors we have used throughout the years. Her attitude is open, caring and very upbeat. I highly recommend her!

    About

Succeed in math! I offer individual lesson plan for each student. Discovery and problem-solving are incorporated in the lessons. Subjects I teach: Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and ACT and SAT preparation.

    About

We offer our ACT Prep Program, which includes 10 hours of prep in reading/English and 10 in math/science. Plus, the students can work on writing too. Our schedule is very flexible. We offer the students a free mock ACT practice test, so we can pinpoint strengths and needs. After we correct and score the practice test, we will share the results. The student might want to schedule some hours to go over just the errors. This has helped many students just to see where they made mistakes. The students can take part of the program too -- maybe just math and usage.

How do I prepare for the GMAT?

If you’re thinking of enrolling in graduate school to earn your MBA, it’s time to start thinking about preparing for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Working with a GMAT tutor is for many people a wise investment to help you strengthen the academic areas you may be weak in and improving your overall test score. A GMAT prep tutor should teach you not only the kind of information you need to know for the test, but the best test-taking strategies. The GMAT tests you on four categories: quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, and an analytical writing assessment. Cramming is probably not going to give you good results for this standardized test; give yourself between two and six months to prepare, focusing on your most challenging areas first. Successful GMAT prep means planning ahead and studying thoroughly. Those students who reported studying under 75 hours were more likely to score 400 or lower on the test, while students who studied 121 hours or more were more likely to score 700 or higher on the test. Hiring a GMAT prep tutor can range in price from under $50 to over $200 per hour.

How long does it take to prepare for the GMAT?

Pros recommend planning to spend two to six months for GMAT prep. The test itself is only 3.5 hours long, but your score will have a major effect on what schools grant you admission. If you’d like to be considered for one of the top-tier schools, it’s recommended to score at least a 700. Your goals for your MBA can help drive your GMAT prep. GMAT tutors will guide your study plan and help analyze your strengths and weaknesses. GMAT tutors also offer professional guidance and insights on strategic GMAT test-taking. Avail yourself of free GMAT prep software that provides sample test questions for you to practice. The creators of the GMAT recommend creating a structured study plan detailing when you will study each day and what topics you will study during each session. Take into account what style of learning works best for you (solo study, one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, study groups, prep courses) and proceed accordingly. The test is made up of these four categories, each with an allotted time:

    • Analytical writing assessment: 1 topic, 30 minutes.
    • Integrated reasoning: 12 questions, 30 minutes.
    • Quantitative: 37 questions, 75 minutes.
    • Verbal: 41 questions: 75 minutes.
