They did a great job moving me. They were professional. They really understand treating their customers nicely. At the end there was almost a mix up with the payment though. Their "office" was closed when they got to my home address and they said they couldn't take a credit card, they needed cash. Earlier I made a deposit with a credit card, so it should've been explained that they could only take cash after their office closed. However the mover made a call and he did get someone in to open the "office" in time to continue the move. They did good!

Had a GREAT moving experience! They loaded up the truck very quickly and unloaded it just as fast. Moving a 1BR apartment took about 2 hours. Would highly recommend.

JL Moving was very accommodating, professional and friendly as I had to re-schedule twice. Joshua and BJ arrived early! Both were extremely friendly and a pleasure to work with during our move. I would highly recommend using JL Moving for any moving needs.

The purpose of this review is to inform you that you should without a doubt trust Chicagoland Moving and Storage for your move. Want the details? Read on fellow buyer: Like a prudent buyer, I researched all the moving companies I could find- Yelp, Angie's List, Home Depot, Thumbtack, you name the impartial review site, and I read it. Chicagoland's price was a little high of the middle of the majority of companies that I saw. I called and was greeted immediately by the owner, Mr. Erez Ron, who did what they all do. He asked for the inventory to be moved, and made a similar prediction in terms of manpower and time estimate as the other companies I spoke to. But then he asked, "How can I secure your business?" Basically the entire time I dealt with this company, every member was realistic and went out of their way to work as hard as they could to ensure this move went over without a hitch. He made a me an excellent deal, and we waited for the scheduled move day. Erez's team, led by Eric and accompanied by Reuben, Tio, and Vincente, arrived punctually as specified, and we reviewed the work- and immediately the expertise of the team stated that this would take longer than they'd quoted. This was expected, and ought to be factored into every move. The team got right to it though. Enter the elements: we got record rain in Cook County that day, and you know what? The team didn't bat an eyelash, and given a break here and there when it was raining buckets, they charged in and out of the rain to load and unload the truck. It DID take longer that we'd expected, but considering how hard it was, I've never seen any moving company work harder, faster, or more efficiently. They were polite, exact, and made sure that what needed to be done was done in the best manner to avoid damage and issues with neighbors etc. I couldn't have been happier with the result! I'd heard horror stories of some companies rescheduling or quitting because the job was too big, or traffic was abominable, or because the weather was too harsh. Friends of mine had incidents with other companies that dawdled on the job, or broke things, damaged the floors/walls of the house, or some objects just disappeared. I've also heard the shock from family members who had entire rooms of furniture moved that never had to simply because communication was poor with the movers. You will NOT have any of these issues with Chicagoland Movers. My research couldn't have been more accurate about it. My overall experience with the genuine, hardworking, and diligent nature of the people I met with Chicagoland Moving and Storage ensured that the move went as smoothly as it rationally ever could have transpired.

I loved my crew and the office staff. They were all excellent to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs a mover and does not want damages or to bother friends to move you. Moving with a moving company is so much easier. Trust me.

They handled all of or pre-packed boxes and all our furniture with care. We have some exspensive pieces and had a negative experience with a previous move/moving company, so it was refreshing to have a good experience. There was great communication throughout, and did an excellent job fitting everything into our storage unit. The only problem, was we planned to pay by credit card. We were told by the office that was fine a few days in advance, and that there would be a 3% charge, which we were ok with. The head mover told us this was fine when he arrived, then proceeded to have us fill out the paperwork. At the end of the move he then came to us and said he couldn't get ahold of the office and we'd have to pay by cash. He said if we didn't pay by cash we'd have to wait endlessly to hear back from the office. We didn't believe what he was saying, but obliged because we were on a time constraint. We felt a little scammed and are now unsure if we will use them again when we complete the second part of our move this summer. We'd probably require written communication from them, that we will exclusively pay by card and there will not be any other options the day of.

We hired STI Long Distance Moving two days before we moved from Chicago to Dallas and Nick was so accommodating in getting the last minute request worked out. He was upfront about all the charges and the estimate was accurate and no surprise fees. Oscar and his crew in Chicago did a fantastic job packing and making sure everything was wrapped up and protected. Adam and his crew arrived in Dallas four days later and were great unloading and took the time to go through the entire inventory list to make sure we had everything. Would definitely recommend STI!

This company gave us a quote to move our furniture from Mequon, WI to Southaven, MS. Their quote was reliable as they never wavered from the amount that they originally quoted. They advised us of what they would be doing from the time they finished packing until they delivered the furniture. After packing two trucks of furniture they advised that they would rest then drive to Southaven. After arriving in Southaven we received a telephone call advising us that the movers were going to get a few hours of sleep then they would come to our house to start unpacking. After they rested for a few hours we received a phone call advising us that they were on the way to our house to unpack the first truck. When they arrived at our house they unloaded the furniture efficiently. They placed furniture on our main level and upstairs as directed without incident. They were very careful when moving the furniture and all of the men acted professionally at all times. We are very happy that we selected Hungry Man Moving for our move. We would definitely use this company again if we need to move in the future!

We were moving a two bedroom from one third-floor apartment to another third-floor apartment, and these guys were incredible. Efficient and quick but also VERY careful and clearly conscious of the fact that they were holding important pieces of our lives in their hands. 10/10 will recommend to everyone I meet for the next several weeks.

After having a negative experience with a previous moving company, we were so relieved to have made the choice to go with Personalized Furniture and Piano Movers. From my initial contact with Winston, up until the execution of the move, nothing but professionalism was displayed. The movers moved our piano with care and caution as if it were their own. Our whole experience with this company was fantastic-- we look forward to using them again!

I hired two Bellhops for two hours to help me move out of my storage unit onto the moving truck. Having the extra hands helped to alleviate any stress of moving and they did all the heavy lifting. The entire process was expedited because of their assistance.

Not one item shifted or broke during our 2 hour drive. Emmet was incredibly professional and thorough, you won't be disappointed!

I have used Crete Moving and Logistics three times now and each time, the movers have been prompt, courteous, and professional. The last time I used them, they went above and beyond. A different moving company duped me and instead of delivering my belongings to D.C., they took my belongings to a warehouse in Carol Stream, IL and held them hostage until I paid them 50% more than what was agreed to in the estimate. After my belongings were released, Crete Moving picked them up from the warehouse and drove them from Chicago to Washington, D.C. and gave up his Thanksgiving holiday in the process. I am so thankful for this company. They operate with integrity and scruples and delivered everything on time and undamaged. I highly recommend anyone use them.

MILITARY MOVE: I would not hesitate to tell any military family to book with Rose. She will handle you with respect, she understands the DITY move and all requirements. I felt from the start our family was in good hands. We had a full pack move and this company delivered the service. GREAT NATION moving and storage moved my belongings to Washington State and did a wonderful job. Their attention to detail is impeccable and all of my furniture and other items got to my new home in perfect condition. Everything was not only packed with the utmost care but with tremendous efficiency so that unpacking everything was a breeze. It was placed carefully and methodically and everything was wrapped and protected extremely well. Moving halfway across the country is daunting enough without worrying about your possessions getting damaged or lost and they did more than an amazing job! I would 110% recommend them to anyone in that area. Not only are they very professional, they are organized and efficient. They truly care about you and your personal property and getting it where it needs to be.

I have had a variety of movers help through several moves and these guys were GREAT! From start to finish, they were great communicators and pleasant. They showed up on time, worked fast, efficiently, and were just nice guys. My move was a small move but I would trust them with a bigger move, as well. Highly recommend and will be using them again!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
