Introduction: Expert guitarist, teacher, and Jazz band leader; most notably the Charlie Painter Trio. I have taught guitar, bass, and ukulele at Drums 'n Moore, the Monroe St. Arts Center, and now from my home studio in Madison's east side. I teach all ages, styles, and skill levels. As a band leader for over a decade, I have had the pleasure of playing intimate settings to large venues. There is nothing I love more than giving the audience a soundtrack to enhance their night! Sought after skilled sound recorder, I specialize in on-location recording and production services. I can transform your live performance into a high fidelity recording that captures you at your very best!

Guitar Lessons

I really enjoyed working with Charlie. He’s really easy to talk to and easy to get along with. He enjoys playing which is actually really important when someone decides to teach.

Guitar Lessons

Great teacher! I've been playing for almost 20 years and was looking for someone to help sharpen some areas that have gotten pretty dull. He actually showed me a practicing technique that both beginners and intermediate guitarists who want to learn how to improvise NEED to know but I've never used before! He could probably be charging more for what he's teaching! Also very easy to talk with so communicating ideas and questions is a breeze.

Guitar Lessons

I am an adult beginner and Charlie is patient and very positive. I learned a lot since starting with him. I would recommend Charlie if you are an adult beginner with no prior guitar or music theory knowledge.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lessons are $40/half hour, $60/hour. Performances average $200-$600.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

For lessons, I first work with my client to understand their experience level, which helps me help them achieve their goals. For live music entertainment, I work with my clients to achieve their desired outcomes through my performances and shows.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My two decades of music training range from local college classes to online Master Bootcamps. I hold weekly, monthly, and annual Jazz residencies. In 2019, I averaged eight shows a month from large venues to private parties.
