Ben did a great job – better than the original installation. He came back a couple times to install drywall behind the vanity, sand it, and paint it. I am thrilled with his work.

Painting and Beyond did an excellent job of painting our house and will recommend them to anyone. Not only did they put up with us with three color changes until we where satisfied but re-nailed many boards. They power washed the entire house and did caulking where needed. The price was also reasonable.

LaRue was awesome! He was able to comeby quickly (within 24 hrs of contact) and did a great job installing insulation in our basement that was required by the City of Racine. Very friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. He will be the handyman we turn to first for future projects. We highly recommend him.

Dan arrived promptly at the time agreed upon for him to start the job.. He had all the tools he needed for the job, except some electrical tape, which he went off the clock to obtain. I was having an old bath exhaust fan removed, and a new larger one installed. Dan ran into a few hard spots in the installation, but he quickly figured them out, and the new fan is installed and running smoothly. Dan also did the electrical hookup of the existing wiring and was very proficient at it. Dan was very professional throughout the installation, and I would definitely hire him again if I had a project that he felt he could work on. His hourly rate was reasonable, and he kept track of his time on his smart phone, so there was no doubt of the exact time he worked on the project.

We hired Steamatic for some drywall repair and painting as well as carpet cleaning. Alex and his team did a great job on the drywall and painting. They were able to match the texture that was already there and we were very pleased with the finished look. We were also very happy with the carpet cleaning.

Peter worked for me this last year remodeling a basic building in to an awesome looking Retail Store. He framed out and finished the bathroom, office and Kitchenette areas. He also did the electrical wiring inside and out on the whole building. He hung 7 large windows and a French front door after he removed a 16ft. garage door. Peter did a beautiful job tiling the bathroom floor, so I also had him do a bathroom in a rental. He Hung drywall and finished the showroom. Then he prepared the outside of the shop for Stone veneer. Peter takes great pride in his work and pays attention to details. Always thinking and very creative. We were working without a print, basically design as you go and he seemed to really enjoy the challenge. He's a very organized and clean worker. If he doesn't know something he will research and learn before he moves forward. I did not have to be there to get things done. We would meet make a plan for the day and I went about doing other business. I knew Peter would be on time and get the job done to my expectations or better. Peter's truly a great person who has raised a fine family, very disciplined and respectful. Peter's intelligence, eye for detail and quality of work make him stand above the others.

Trent and Jacob are amazing!! They do great work for a great value. I ended up having them do more than I expected. They are all around great handymen/carpenters. They pretty much did it all from tile on the kitchen floor to drywall to a new door frame and a roof! Love these guys. I am having them come back to do the rest of my house when I am ready. Highly recommend!

My husband & I had 5 different tilers come to take a look at our floor. Out of the five we bought it down to 2 and then when with Joe/Native Remodels - We have a older (1963) home with many obstacles- Radiant heat/pocket doors/side bathroom, plus we were having 3 rooms that flowed into each other done (650 sq.ft.) They said it would take 6 days - And it did - They did all the tear out and disposal. They worked on saving our existing molding. My tile is beautiful and straight. They were very easy to talk too. Made sure my cat did not get outside. Worked around me, since I work out of the home. Installed a kitchen light for me. Fixed a loose tile on our foyer entrance. The price was overly fair. Very pleased with the work & professional manner. Will be hiring them in the future to remodel our master bath. 1 project at a time. Brigette Begos

Andy and Jeremy were great. My project turned out to be much bigger than we expected. They made time to fit me into an already busy schedule and communicated very well about when they would be able to arrive. The fixed cracks in my plaster wall and fixed the water damage to my bathroom ceiling. New drywall and plumbing piping included! I'm very happy with their work!

Is heating your home in Milwaukee eating into your savings? Take a look at your windows, doors and attic insulation! Having old, inefficient windows and doors in your home is like throwing your money out of those windows, because old, drafty windows won't effectively prevent heated air from escaping your house and cold air leaking in. You may not know about triple-pane windows, but you should. For the last 20 years, dual-pane window technology has saved homeowners countless dollars on heating and cooling bills, and while dual pane is still an excellent value (We sell those too!), there's a new technology taking hold: triple pane. Superior insulation, sound control and condensation resistance make these innovative products an Energy star favorite. With our national buying power, Window Depot USA can offer you triple-pane technology, for what our competitors sell dual pane. Wow! Learn more about triple pane.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

    • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
    • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

    • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
    • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
    • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
