Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: A successful patent attorney with experience helping fortune 500 companies and solo inventors protect their ideas. Our strategy is always developed for your unique business. I have experience drafting the application and figures for international applications, domestic provisional and non-provisional patent applications. I love to learn about your technology and help you protect your rights. More importantly, I believe patents are often overlooked for their power to build bridges. Venture-capitalists, promoters, and even competitors may assist a patentee with a clear patent to best enhance the technologies. Promoting innovation and progress, particularly in engineering and computing technologies, is my life's work. I can also help with other Intellectual Property questions such as Trademark, Trade Secret, and Copyright. I have professional experience and education in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering. I particularly enjoy working with cross-over technologies that require expertise in multiple disciplines, such as nanobiotechnology, robotics, and unmanned flight systems.

Brandon S.

Brad discussed the project with me and followed up to ensure the claims covered my design. I received big client service at an agreed upon and small client price. I would do it again.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I prefer to negotiate fixed fee agreements. I generally charge about: $1,000 for patent/trademark searches. $500-$1,500 for provisional/trademark applications. $2,500 for non-provisional applications. In addition, you will be responsible for any draftsperson charges (usually about $300-$500) and government filing fees.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The most important thing is to establish a line of communication with the customer. We will sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and begin discussing your invention. There is a lot of variation on the kinds of inventions and your goals for the application. Together we will develop a strategy. Once I have an adequate understanding of the invention, I will draft claims for the client review depending on whether we've selected a provisional or non-provisional application once we agree on the claim set. I will draft a complete application. If requested, I will contact the draftsperson and obtain formal figures for a formal (non-provisional) patent filing. In other cases, I work directly with the client to understand the issue and develop a strategy. As things develop, I return to the client to discuss any changes in the strategy or development of the case.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

BS with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University. Seeking BS in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University. MS Cum Laude in Medical Engineering from the University of Washington. JD Cum Laude from the University of San Diego, School of Law. I have practical engineering professional experience working for Boeing and United Technologies Corp. I also have ample experience working in Big Law and other patent prosecution firms. In that capacity, I have prosecuted Boeing and UTC patent applications, among many others.
