I've been taking guitar lessons from Ken for 3 weeks now. I had tried to learn on my own for several years and never got anywhere. This is why I decided to find an instructor using this service. Before I even met Ken he tought me some things I wasn't aware of - not finding it in any videos or written materials online. I think a lot of people that play instruments forget what it is to learn it. Ken has helped with this, I was pressing on the strings too hard and in the wrong areas. He helped with holding the guitar correctly, tuning it, and more. In three weeks I can play 6 chords already, and made more progress than what I did on my own over 3 years. So far, so good!
Dan is a great guy and truly understands how to teach piano. My daughter has really benefited from his teaching. Thank you.
Emily is an excellent teacher. Not only does she clearly master the theory of music, she is also able to convey that theory to her student to better teach them how to play. She is also keenly aware of the areas where I, as a student, struggle, and always offers helpful tips and advice to allow me to improve the way I play.
He taught very fluidly and paid close attention to make sure I understood what he was saying. He definitely takes his teaching seriously and I look forward to more lessons.
I took piano lessons from Ms Garin for almost 11 years. Over that time, she not only taught me about music theory and piano techniques, but her guidance helped me learn about hard work, dedication, and atristry. She catered her lessons to me personally, exposing me to various styles of music, and making sure I was always interested in what I was learning or playing. As I progressed, she allowed me to explore options in songwriting and play some of my own compositions at her student recitals. Over the years, my mom and I both came to know Paulette as a very approachable and caring person with a passion for music and teaching. By now, I consider Paulette a close personal friend and cannot recommend her highly enough.
I loved my time with Rachel as my teacher! She is hilarious and kind, but also can always find room for improvement. Her song choices were fun, but she also is open to students picking songs. She specifically helped me with my problem of tightening up on the high notes. She is very accountable - definitely the most reliable voice teacher I've had. I've been taking voice lessons since I was five years old and started taking from Rachel when I was 20 and going to Northwestern University. Graduate students there have the opportunity to teach non-voice major singing lessons. Some of the teachers are clearly not into it, but Rachel approached the job with enthusiasm and compassion for her students. She even helped me find local auditions that she thought would suit my voice and helped me schedule and primp for my headshots. To give you an idea of repertoire, we worked on a good mix of classical and Broadway (and a lot of Broadway classics!). She also arranged a performance opportunity for us - a recital at her local church. I should also note that Rachel's piano skills are certainly up to par. I don't think she performs piano solos, but it was more than enough for our lessons. Of all my voice teachers, Rachel has been my favorite (and I have had five). I would highly recommend her to anyone. You would be lucky to study with her!
Paul Tadder is a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher in the way that he connects with the individual as much as the music in lessons that feel as though they are tailored to the student. Though he is well versed in many styles of playing and many genres of music he is able to meet a person at the level they are at to meet their goals musically and in technique with ample support and encouragement. Highly recommended for the beginner all the way to the seasoned professional.
Tim works very well with my teenaged son. He is very professional and seems to care deeply about teaching music. I would highly recommend Tim to teach your kids how to play the guitar.
I am am adult student of Mark's. I began lessons in the Spring of 2008. When we first talked, I explained that I had played some (chords only) as a teenager for 3-4 years but then gave it up as life took over. Mark asked me some good questions about my goals and objectives. I liked him immediately. He sourced a very good starting guitar for me-in my case an acoustic as I lean that way (although I'm now playing electric as well), and at my first lesson he explained that we were going to start at the beginning and he planned to teach me to read music. I scoffed, but six years later (and several more guitars!) I am overjoyed with my love for music. Theory, history, technique and backstory all accompany my lessons. I can read sheet music and understand the concepts the math and the history. I recommend Mark to anyone wanting to learn not just the notes or the chords, but the "why" behind it. Kids, adults, beginners-doesn't matter. I've watched him with students from very young kids to senior citizens and he gets it. He knows how to relate to all students and how to get through to each of them on a personal level. Aside from being a genuinely good guy, he's a darn good player too and can teach things that I could only imagine possible when I started. I look forward to every single lesson after 6.5 years!
Working with Michelle, to enhance my (toddler) son's music enrichment has been such a delightful experience. She is always charming and excited to work with him. And he has no idea he's learning early music theory; he simply loves the games she puts to music. I am extremely satisfied with our decision to start him early on; we have no doubt every chance to meet with her prepares him for future music lessons!
Lowell provided piano Jazz and Theory lessons for several years. He is an excellent teacher, and puts his heart into teaching. I have had a myriad of piano teachers over the years, most of whom are not engaged or invested in your future as a student. Lowell, however, caters the lesson planning to the desire of the student, not just where he thinks there is improvement needed. A personal example was how I wanted additional ear training. He worked hard to develop my musical ear, not just my jazz and theory knowledge.
My first lesson with Albert led me to believe that playing the piano is something I would like to pursue. He made it fun and taught me the key names in the matter of minutes. Thank you for showing me that playing the piano is just as enjoyable as listening to it.
I am a full time band teacher who enjoys teaching private lessons outside of school. I have a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I took 10 years of piano lessons and would love to start my own piano studio! I also teach brass lessons and tutor in music theory.

Whether you're just beginning or have experience but need some fine-tuning, lessons with me will be beneficial. Many guitar teachers and books focus on a set of basics, and building songs around very basic principles for beginners. Though this works, it causes many students to lose interest and give up, since the music they love seems so far away. I'm here to show students what they're striving for is attainable, and their goals are going to be met.
