I've been taking guitar lessons from Ken for 3 weeks now. I had tried to learn on my own for several years and never got anywhere. This is why I decided to find an instructor using this service. Before I even met Ken he tought me some things I wasn't aware of - not finding it in any videos or written materials online. I think a lot of people that play instruments forget what it is to learn it. Ken has helped with this, I was pressing on the strings too hard and in the wrong areas. He helped with holding the guitar correctly, tuning it, and more. In three weeks I can play 6 chords already, and made more progress than what I did on my own over 3 years. So far, so good!

Terri is a wonderful piano teacher. She has been my daughter's teacher for almost six years. She loves music and shares that love with her students. She has an easygoing style, yet expects her students to do their best. She incorporates popular sheet music into their lessons so they don't get bored and they play lots of duets which help with counting and learning the music. I highly recommend Terri.

I loved my time with Rachel as my teacher! She is hilarious and kind, but also can always find room for improvement. Her song choices were fun, but she also is open to students picking songs. She specifically helped me with my problem of tightening up on the high notes. She is very accountable - definitely the most reliable voice teacher I've had. I've been taking voice lessons since I was five years old and started taking from Rachel when I was 20 and going to Northwestern University. Graduate students there have the opportunity to teach non-voice major singing lessons. Some of the teachers are clearly not into it, but Rachel approached the job with enthusiasm and compassion for her students. She even helped me find local auditions that she thought would suit my voice and helped me schedule and primp for my headshots. To give you an idea of repertoire, we worked on a good mix of classical and Broadway (and a lot of Broadway classics!). She also arranged a performance opportunity for us - a recital at her local church. I should also note that Rachel's piano skills are certainly up to par. I don't think she performs piano solos, but it was more than enough for our lessons. Of all my voice teachers, Rachel has been my favorite (and I have had five). I would highly recommend her to anyone. You would be lucky to study with her!

Emily is an excellent teacher. Not only does she clearly master the theory of music, she is also able to convey that theory to her student to better teach them how to play. She is also keenly aware of the areas where I, as a student, struggle, and always offers helpful tips and advice to allow me to improve the way I play.

I am a 28 year old female with a limited music background who decided that now was the time to pick up guitar. Peter has been an excellent teacher and guide through this process for me. He understands my goals in taking guitar lessons and has found a way to balance my desire to learn and understand music (reading/writing)/music theory with the ability to begin picking up songs by ear. He selects appropriate pieces with learning value that I also enjoy. He provides me with supplemental learning material and readying that helps me to better understand the music that I play. He has also tasked me with some long term projects to provide a constant and on-going challenge. Peter is patient with me and is teaching me to be more patient with myself. He is a good motivator. Most importantly to me, he teaches in a manner that remains free of judgment and allows me to feel comfortable exploring a new instrument. I would highly recommend Peter as a guitar instructor.

Ben Cook was the best piano teacher my child ever had. I remember how much I hated taking lessons as a kid, things would have been different if I had Mr. Cook growing up. He doesn't use books, instead he chose each individual exercise and piece for my daughter. If there is something he couldn't find, he wrote it! My daughter has never learned faster. Wish we didn't have to move away so he could still teach her. Highly recommend!

My first lesson with Albert led me to believe that playing the piano is something I would like to pursue. He made it fun and taught me the key names in the matter of minutes. Thank you for showing me that playing the piano is just as enjoyable as listening to it.

Lowell provided piano Jazz and Theory lessons for several years. He is an excellent teacher, and puts his heart into teaching. I have had a myriad of piano teachers over the years, most of whom are not engaged or invested in your future as a student. Lowell, however, caters the lesson planning to the desire of the student, not just where he thinks there is improvement needed. A personal example was how I wanted additional ear training. He worked hard to develop my musical ear, not just my jazz and theory knowledge.

Working with Michelle, to enhance my (toddler) son's music enrichment has been such a delightful experience. She is always charming and excited to work with him. And he has no idea he's learning early music theory; he simply loves the games she puts to music. I am extremely satisfied with our decision to start him early on; we have no doubt every chance to meet with her prepares him for future music lessons!

About

Rock Central is a nonprofit community music school providing performance based music education to kids and adults of all ages and skill levels. Students receive weekly individual lessons followed by weekly group rehearsals for their specific program. This is where they have the opportunity to take what they've learned and apply it to a group setting with their peers. Not only will they develop their musical skills, they also develop their confidence and self esteem. At the end of each session, each group gets to perform out in a real life venue with friends, family and community supporters cheering them on.

About

Many guitar teachers and books focus on a set of basics, and building songs around very basic principles for beginners. Though this works, it causes many students to lose interest and give up, since the music they love seems so far away. I'm here to show students what they're striving for is attainable, and their goals are going to be met.

About

I have been teaching basic music theory/rhythm, along with improvisation and fret board logic as well as chords and scales. My influences include hard rock, blues/funk and some metal. Prices range from half-hour to 1-hour lessons, along with distance to location of the lesson.
