Introduction: I am both a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer. My own personal history as an overweight young woman, and my struggles with binge eating disorder as well as chronic illness give me a different perspective on what it takes to truly become the healthiest person you can be. Now in my early forties, I have years of experience in empowering women and helping them find their mojo again ;-) As a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach, I can identify the obstacles that have been holding you back from making the consistent healthy choices needed to reach sustainable weight loss –- whether it’s work stress, self-sabotage, lack of accountability, a major life change or a particularly difficult emotional time. We will start building a strategy that will better prepare you to go through these obstacles without giving up on your long-term health goals. I will be the most dedicated cheerleader, every step of the way, to help you reach your goals. I will hold you accountable, will support you, will gently bring you back on track in moments of doubt and discouragement, and perhaps sometimes give you the tough love you need to keep you from giving up. As a trainer, my goal is to show you how to design an effective fat-burning workout that fits with your schedule, your personal tastes, your limitations, your genetics and your fitness level. Training clients in a conventional gym for several years made me realize something was missing. For most people who truly wanted to change and love their bodies, it was not enough to learn how to move safely through a fat-burning routine. Most of my clients wanted to learn how to nourish themselves, how to cook and plan their healthy meals, how to manage stress, and above all, how to believe in themselves, keep their motivation high and persevere until they achieved the results they wanted. For a lot of people, it is not realistic to rely on a Personal Trainer several times a week, on a long-term basis. It is very important for me that after training with me for a few months, or even a few weeks, you know enough to be able and motivated to work out on your own, or even better, join one of my group fitness challenges. Anyone can fall in love with fitness and get hooked on endorphins. It might not happen right at the beginning, but the moment you start seeing results and feeling stronger and fitter, the magic happens. You just have to stay with it long enough to reap the rewards. I can train you in your home or in my private fitness studio in Wauwatosa. There is no better feeling than to have someone tell me “Because of you, I did not give up.” I often had to wipe tears of joy when I saw my clients’ incredible transformations and read their thank you letters. I am now completely hooked on helping people meet their healthiest selves. I don’t know anything in the world that is more valuable than a healthy body and a calm mind. Julie Lafrance-Balian is everything I wanted to hire a trainer for. She is knowledgeable and friendly. I have a long road to return to a more healthy state and she did not make me feel like a slug for letting myself get as out of shape as I had.
