I've been taking guitar lessons from Ken for 3 weeks now. I had tried to learn on my own for several years and never got anywhere. This is why I decided to find an instructor using this service. Before I even met Ken he tought me some things I wasn't aware of - not finding it in any videos or written materials online. I think a lot of people that play instruments forget what it is to learn it. Ken has helped with this, I was pressing on the strings too hard and in the wrong areas. He helped with holding the guitar correctly, tuning it, and more. In three weeks I can play 6 chords already, and made more progress than what I did on my own over 3 years. So far, so good!
Guy has been teaching our 9 year old son electric bass for about six months now. While attending weekly lessons he has quickly learned the fundamentals and many bass lines in his instrument. Guy is patient and his methodology is very effective for our child.
Mike is very knowledgeable and great at putting the information into a context that you can understand. He clearly has a knack for teaching guitar. I'm taking advanced lessons and feel like I already learned a lot just in our 1hr consultation. I'm looking forward to continue working with him and definitely suggest him to anyone looking to learn guitar. Having lessons in a studio is also a big bonus!
I took piano lessons from Ms. Garin for 11 years (from ages 7-18). She helped me develop an abiding love for piano playing that is still with me at age 33. I learned about composers I would not otherwise have known and was encouraged to consistently refine my technique to emphasize the expression in my playing. I am not a professional pianist, but I am confident I will always play because of my lessons with Ms. Garin!
I took lessons with Jim for about 6 years from 6th grade until senior year of high school. His teaching was excellent and allowed me to grow as a musician. He also is an incredible human being who is dedicated to help the individuals that come to take lessons with him with both music and also with their personal lives.
My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Fran for years now and has made great progress. I chose Fran because he is a professional singer as well. I am hoping one day she will want to add the singing. Fran is very nice and encourages his students without pressuring.
Kristen was awesome! I had here this past year through the voice lessons that the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theater and Dance offers non-performance majors. She's taught me a lot of different techniques, many of which I have never seen before (I've been in voice lessons for five years). She helped me develop my voice greatly, and I hear a huge difference from where I was a year ago. I sound more mature, I have more stamina and my technique is much safer. If you're looking for a vocal coach, I would highly recommend going to her!
Lena taught my daughter guitar lessons for a little over years. She was great! Very patient and excellent teacher. She always made the lessons enjoyable. Would highly recommend Lena to anyone looking to learn or further their guitar skills.
He taught very fluidly and paid close attention to make sure I understood what he was saying. He definitely takes his teaching seriously and I look forward to more lessons.
Paul Tadder is a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher in the way that he connects with the individual as much as the music in lessons that feel as though they are tailored to the student. Though he is well versed in many styles of playing and many genres of music he is able to meet a person at the level they are at to meet their goals musically and in technique with ample support and encouragement. Highly recommended for the beginner all the way to the seasoned professional.
Mr. Biel shows great patience with my kids who enjoy taking piano lessons from him. We're happy with their progress.
Tim works very well with my teenaged son. He is very professional and seems to care deeply about teaching music. I would highly recommend Tim to teach your kids how to play the guitar.
Mike is an excellent guitar instructor. He is knowledgeable, patient, challenging and all around a great guy! He's super flexible, too. My 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Mike for 2 years and is excelling, thanks to Mike! I highly recommend him!!
Working with Michelle, to enhance my (toddler) son's music enrichment has been such a delightful experience. She is always charming and excited to work with him. And he has no idea he's learning early music theory; he simply loves the games she puts to music. I am extremely satisfied with our decision to start him early on; we have no doubt every chance to meet with her prepares him for future music lessons!
Seemed like every lesson started on time. Rich was a regular fixture practically in our home. My daughter enjoyed her lessons, and continued her lessons until she went away for college!
Lowell provided piano Jazz and Theory lessons for several years. He is an excellent teacher, and puts his heart into teaching. I have had a myriad of piano teachers over the years, most of whom are not engaged or invested in your future as a student. Lowell, however, caters the lesson planning to the desire of the student, not just where he thinks there is improvement needed. A personal example was how I wanted additional ear training. He worked hard to develop my musical ear, not just my jazz and theory knowledge.
My first lesson with Albert led me to believe that playing the piano is something I would like to pursue. He made it fun and taught me the key names in the matter of minutes. Thank you for showing me that playing the piano is just as enjoyable as listening to it.
I teach guitar, not just songs. Yes, songs are the finished product, but there is a difference between knowing how to play a few songs, and knowing how to play guitar. The difference is in not only knowing what you are playing, but why. No, you're audience probably won't care if you know the names of the notes and chords you play, or even what key you're playing in. You play the songs for them, but knowing music and music theory is for yourself. So, if you just want to learn how to play some songs, there are some great websites that can give you all you need to know. Save your money and use them. However, give me a call because you're ready to learn guitar, not just songs.

Many guitar teachers and books focus on a set of basics, and building songs around very basic principles for beginners. Though this works, it causes many students to lose interest and give up, since the music they love seems so far away. I'm here to show students what they're striving for is attainable, and their goals are going to be met.
