I was in need of major help with editing of my book. Monica stepped in and made sure everything was correct. From our first conversation to the end of the editing process she listened and made sure everything was to my specifications. She was even gracious enough to edit the back cover for me when I needed it. I will be using Monica for all my future projects.

Sandy has done a terrific job. She is an excellent writer, but, more than that, she takes the time to figure out exactly what your goals are, and then tailors her writing to be in line with those goals. She is also prompt, dependable, and charges extremely reasonable fees. I highly recommend Sandy for your writing needs!

Christina Craig came into our lives at the end of my daughters junior year. We charged her with the difficult task of helping Grace find the perfect college. This was not a small task. Christina provided a thoughtful and organized approach to the process. She provided us with all of the tips and tools to make an impact with college admission counselors. Christina also expertly guided Grace through the intimidating process of drafting the exact college essay that would be sure to impress the admissions counselor. She has a wealth of knowledge about colleges and universities and because she took the time to get to know Grace, was able to make suggestions that best fit Grace’s strengths and personality. Thanks to Christina, Grace now has 2 college acceptances and we are anticipating more. I highly recommend Christina’s services. In my opinion it has been an invaluable experience and process.

I've been working with Mike for more than a year for content writing in English. He is one of the most available and professional freelancers I've ever worked with. He is fast, creative and knows how to adapt his style to different genres. His articles are well written, catchy and easy to read. On a personal level he is a delicious person to deal with: friendly and professional at the same time, committed to the client's satisfaction and never overpromising (but often surprising in the quality of his service!). I honestly recommend him to anyone who is in need of an excellent English content writer.

My sincerest gratitude to Tammy for enriching me by guiding me to find my deepest talents; for inspiring me by quoting insights on how to be a great writer from a variety of astute sources; for encouraging me with her kindness and understanding of the big picture and my personal ones. If there was a letter grade better than an A++, I would give her that esteem.

I hired Mike to do some copy editing for an eBook I had written. Not only did he do an exceptional job with copy editing basics, he was able to recommend someways to restructure the content that would make the overall product better. On top of that, I asked if he could expedite the work and he was more than responsive. Overall, exceptional work. Very happy.

I've worked with Heidi over several months on jobs that required her writing, editing and videography skills. The writing and videos were for website pages, the editing was for books and also a website. Heidi's performance was terrific in all respects. Her technical skills are highly proficient, her work ethic is outstanding, and her cooperative talents make her the kind of person you want to work with. She can be counted on to take effective initiative and also to work very smoothly on a team. Some of my most productive project meetings were with Heidi! I also want to mention something important but more elusive. The text Heidi created and the text she edited were not cut-and-dried, counting-widgets sort of copy. They didn't need only the right punctuation and grammar, they needed to be done by someone who had the skill to understand what would communicate best with the audience, someone who would ask the right questions and incorporate the answers effectively into the project. Heidi is doing a great job, and I look forward to our continuing work together!

Marissa was an excellent tutor! She helped me with my English homework and because of her I got a much better grade in the class. I feel like I am a better writer because of her and I use the skills she gave me in all of my writing assignments now. She was incredibly professional but also very friendly and easy to talk to. Essay writing is now so much easier for me because of the the things Marissa taught me. I would recommend Marissa as a tutor to anyone looking to improve their writing.

I recently published a book, and Janet was an absolute DREAM to work with as the editor! Seriously. My greatest concern with this project was wanting to see and hear my voice come through on the pages. Janet made that happen! I could hear my voice come to life. Not only was the finished manuscript flawless, no errors, but there was also a TON of amazing feedback and respect of my vision for the book. Her feedback was honest and constructive, a passionate critique of my writing style, and there were even a few laughs for the both of us. What a joy to work with! AND, Janet even went above and beyond to create a unique and personalized video tutorial to guide me through the process of reviewing her edits in Word. Can't say enough to express how happy I am with the results of working with Janet!

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

      • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
      • Strong writing skills.
      • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
      • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
      • Expertise in your target area.
      • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

      • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
      • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
