Introduction: When a person seeks guitar lessons, there are a lot of teachers out there, some of them are great players too. But just because a person is a good player doesn't make them a great teacher. Because I have over 20 years teaching experience, I know that each student is an individual and each individual needs to have lessons customized to meet their age, their ability and musical interests! I take each student from where they are and where they want to go. I have the patience and the teaching experience a student needs!

Wow! Mark took my 12 yr old son, who has had NO prior music in his life and has taught him a ton already! Amazing what he has learned so far...cannot wait to see where he'll someday be with music. It's so important and I thank Mark for what he has does so far!!!

Mark has been a great teacher for a beginning student. I am an older adult who had not played an instrument since high school. Mark has been patient and makes lesson enjoyable. I feel he relates to all ages, even those of who grew up on the great 50's music.

Mark is a great Guitar teacher. I've always liked guitar, but never really knew how to play. Since I've started taking lessons with Mark, I've learned much more than I thought I could. He's a great guy, funny, and very talented. Also he can teach you any song you want on guitar as long as you have the music. I'm glad I chose Mark to take guitar lessons. I very highly recommend Mark Hartmann.

Mark has been a big help to me over the years with the instrument. When I have hit stumbling blocks in technique, or learning songs, he's been there for me. He's got the theory knowledge, and a good ear. With all of that, there isn't the huge ego that often goes with the talent. Besides myself, he has gotten my niece off to a good start. I was very happy with her progress. Even a little surprised. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to someone getting started, or someone who is in a "rut" in their playing.

What types of customers have you worked with?
I can take a person with no guitar experience or musical experience for that matter and create instant results! A person will walk away from the first lesson and be able to play something! A simple melody perhaps? Maybe some chords? Students can't wait for their next lesson! Many of my former students are professional musicians!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I have been teaching private lessons for over 20 years. I customize lessons around each individual student, so that they can learn at their own pace and more importantly what they want. I teach note reading, but I also teach guitar tablature and ear training. We learn popular songs by ear - the songs you love from your iPod, CD's and the radio!
