FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before our first session I'll ask you to complete a questionnaire that will ask about your health history and goals and aspirations. From there, we will discuss the results in our first session. Each session will end with a specific goal that you're wanting to accomplish and I will follow-up with you in additional sessions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I enjoy reading, looking into the latest research and attending conferences. I have a 4-year Bachelors of Science degree in Health Promotion and Nutrition. As a Certified Wellness Practitioner I need to attend educational programs as well as a weeklong conference each year to maintain my certification. For yoga, I am a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. I continue to teach at a local studio and take classes as a student. I also foster my own daily yoga practice as I believe we are own best student. For 7 years I worked as a Health Coach at a wellness company where I worked with over 20,000 people - helping them achieve their wellness goals.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always been interested in health. I went into school thinking I would be a dietician but after going through course work it showed me that it didn't always look at the whole individual. I wanted to do more for someone and didn't want to simply tell a person what to do with no follow-up. From there, I discovered health promotion and wellness and my passion grew from there! In 2010, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer which gave me a whole new outlook on lifestyle and how it impacts our health. Through my own health journey of wanting to lose weight and decrease my chances for cancer I have found new ways to help heal and strengthen the body. On a personal level, I have battled with bloat, discomfort and skin issues from a young age. I have since discovered that making lifestyle changes through diet, activity and meditation have been the key to managing symptoms in a healthy way. I feel empowered knowing I have this control over my health and my body and I want to help others discover this as well.
