My 16 year old has been taking drum lessons from Jim Kube since he was 8 years old. He enjoys Jim's lessons so much that he has continued even though he dropped band at school. Jim is a great teacher AND a wonderful person & role model that I'm glad to have my son spend time with each week!

I enjoyed practicing with Tim. I only lived in the area for a short time, but he was helpful. I think anyone would benefit from his lessons.

Jared was a wonderful drum and violin instructor for my two sons. He helped them improve and learn, but made sure it was fun. I highly recommend him.

I am very grateful to have met Matt at Cedarburg Music. After playing guitar for 14 years I decided I needed a fresh perspective, and I signed up for my first ever guitar lesson – a very smart decision. I have taken private lessons from many different teachers for other instruments, and I feel Matt is the best teacher I have ever had for several reasons. Matt takes you as you are, and points you in the direction YOU want to go with great advice. Never once has he ever forced "his opinion" about what's good music. Instead it's a discussion, and he gets you to think. Matt knows his music theory. We often study modal theory, and focus on the intervalic separation of the notes in relation to chord tones with a keen ear toward dissonance and resolution. In my opinion, this is what separates quality musicians from those who just spray notes. A lot of teachers I've had are extremely NOT creative. They just tell you to buy a book and do what it says, then the lesson comes and it's a rehearsal. Sorry; I can do that on my own. But with Matt, it's much different. If we work from a book, we focus on understanding and applying the concepts the book lays out. This involves discussion, interaction and playing notes not written in the book. Most importantly, I am more inspired than ever with my playing, and my confidence in my compositions is growing. I believe I am getting better. Believe me, after over a decade of playing it's easy to feel like you're spinning wheels and not getting anywhere. It's a great feeling to know in my heart that I've got that ball rolling again! Thanks, Matt!

Michael is an excellent teacher. He tailors his lessons based on the specific things I wanted to learn. He explains things in terms that are easy to understand and has an easy going demeanor that makes the learning environment very comfortable. After just two lessons I saw much improvement in my technique. I would highly recommend hiring Michael as a teacher.

Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. We do not treat every students the same in terms of what and how we teach. A seven year old having their first guitar lessons will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child. That main reason to choose the Music Gallery Academy as your music lessons provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lessons, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. Our music teachers teach rock, blues, jazz, heavy metal, country, folk, finger style, funk, classical, raggae, and more! Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight-reading and theory. We balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson you are challenged with an new technical or theory concept, but always end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of technologies to accomplish this. We are the only school in the Chicago area to equip each studio with Mac computers, printers, internet access, and programs to slow down your mp3 to play along with your favorite songs at a comfortable pace.

I run a drum-lesson business that caters to the learning needs of each individual I work with. I choose the name Drum Geek Drum Lessons, because I don't just teach notes. I like to also dive in to the history of drumming and music. I feel this provides a better understanding of the notes that will also be taught.

    About

WE offer drum lessons and drum exercises designed for all levels of ability from first time beginners to Pros and Instructors. "First learn to think like a drummer, then you can play what you think!" I have been playing drums for over 40 years, starting with 9 years of private lessons myself. I have been teaching drums for over 30 years, and I can see a drummer's weakness and strengths in just a matter of seconds. Always work to eliminate weaknesses and showcase your strengths! Lessons are customized for each student as each of us is different with unique desires and musical tastes. I always recommend video taping your playing and review the video. This allows us to replay our drum play in our mind, while deciding what needs work, what sounds great, and what can be discarded as "not for me". This is the best way to learn fast and develop our own personal style. What other students have to say: "This is what I've been looking for thanks! I have nothing against some of the guy's who are drumming on here, but I want to learn more than what their demonstrating! I'm considering either a, Roland e drum kit or Yamaha which would you suggest for a novice? Great drumming by the way!" (deepbreakfast1960) "Man, kuddos to you! I just saw all parts of 20min workout and found it very inspiring. Thanks." (hujjer) "i like. Your pretty inspirational, I never considered getting an electronic kit before (i got an acoustic), but after a friend got one, playing on one at school and hearing many great artists such as yourself im now looking into it!" "thx helped alot" (callofdutygod1234567) "great. thanks" (georgewatts94) "You are the first person to actually teach something I can understand I can't stop practicing your work outs."
