Went above and beyond his duties. I had some fallen tree branches and a chainsaw that I didn't know how to operate and this kind hearted gentleman took the time to cut them up for me before he cut my lawn!! He ALWAYS accommodates my schedule for me and does those little extra things that make him so special!!

I had spoken with Antonio of 3 J's Lawn Services the day I received a message from him on Thumbtack to come out and provide my husband & I a quote for spring clean-up of our yard. He came out to our home and was on-time (a little early, which is a big plus in my eyes), walked the property with us and heard our concerns of what we were looking to have done; upon completion of walking our property he was able to provide us a quote and we decided (after receiving a few other quotes for the same work from other companies) that 3 J's Lawn Services was the most reasonable for what we were to have done. We scheduled the appointment and this past Tuesday, 4/4/17, came home and our yard looked amazing. They had hauled away all of our left over leaves from previous fall (2016) that we had not gotten to, cleared all of our beds around the house, edged the property and added all new mulch to the beds and around our trees. Absolutely love the work they did and would highly recommend hiring 3 J's Lawn Services; I know I will be calling for future projects.

These guys are the hardest working landscapers I’ve employed. They know what they’re doing, they don’t rush things and they do a very good job. So far they have completed the Spring cleanup, edges about 1/2 acre of trees and flowerbeds, as well as deliver & install some high quality mulch.

Jose helped me with couple of jobs. Lawn mow and a tree trimming. On both times, he was on time and did an awesome job. I would hire him for my future projects and also would recommend to anyone who needs help with outdoor works.

We had part of a tree snap off. We needed the rest of the tree removed. Quentin changed his schedule to start last Sunday. Got most of the tree down, came back Sunday finish cutting down the tree in the cold. Even through Quentin was having family concerns he still found the time to finish the job. I would recommend 1/2 price tree for there tree work.the job took 1 week to complete.

Extremely pleased overall. Besides being very skilled he was also very acommodating and understanding as to my lack of knowledge with regards to the tree in our backyard. Facilitated lots of info and advice as to getting the most of the tree and its remaining life span which will benefit us tremendously. Will recommend his services to others. Ruben Burgos

Bardos did a huge project for us - we extended our paver patio and also put a 5 foot high, 60 foot long retaining wall at the back of our property. The retaining wall was set ten feet from the existing rail road tie wall- he removed that and then filled the entire 60 foot x 10 foot area with soil to 5 feet high. We have a fence in the back so he moved all the stone and soil by wheelbarrow from the front yard and then through a gate. I am extremely impressed with not only the quality of work, but his professionalism and work ethic. It turned out better than I could have imagined, I am so impressed! You can tell he takes pride in his work and a job well done. He never had a problem with changes or add-ons that we requested (he moved and modified an existing sump pump pipe, cut down a tree, etc). Not only that, he was reasonably priced. I highly recommend him for any landscaping or hardscaping job!

The crew came out and did a great job taking out a large tree in our front yard, but when we went to sod we encountered some of the stump that had gotten left behind. Dave was quick to respond, and came out personally the very next morning to get the rest of it. Thank you very much!

I called IM Tree Removal on a Tuesday afternoon, got an immediate competitive bid and by Wednesday afternoon my 3 large overgrown pine trees were taken down with nearly zero cleanup needed afterward. I would recommend this outfit to anyone needing tree removal from their yard or from their business. The equipment used was extremely efficient and impressive to witness first hand. I highly recommend this company.

I am so excited, this giant tree was removed from our yard today. Sun on the pool all day long! There's a person up in the tree, kind of hard to see. No more sap, needles or pinecones. The branch Phil called the widow maker is gone! These guys did a great job! Thank you, Crowley Tree Experts! Great price too! Highly recommend them!!! Come on summer!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
