Introduction: As a young guitarist, I'm keenly aware of the struggles new guitarists experience learning guitar. Let's face it, guitar is a complicated instrument - the same notes can be found in multiple places, there are no obvious patterns to look for like a piano, and building those callouses can be super painful! I get it - and that's why everything I do as your teacher is designed to make all of that easier. I get to wake up in the morning and teach music! Even the "hard" parts of music - practicing, prepping for gigs and lessons - pales in comparison to the mundane 9 to 5.

Kyle is my 9 year old son's guitar teacher for several months now. I really appreciate his professionalism, lessons organization and daily work at home. Above all , I am touched by his passion for music and his ability to make my son willing to play and move on.

Normally I would wait at least a month before posting a review. However, just after my son's first lesson (almost about to turn 8 years old), he is excited to play the guitar... which thrills me that I'm not "that mom" forcing lessons on my child. This was a great decision for us. My son (not to mention myself) is looking forward to earning his **stars** after recording in his practice log for the weeks to come (based on what Kyle discerns is best to practice on during the week). Kyle is organized, relaxed & fun. I'm just happy my son is happy to learn! :)

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm a member of the National Association for Music Education, so I'm always reading up on the newest teaching techniques and going-ons in my profession.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Compare! Just like you comparison shop on a big internet retailer site, you should do the same with music teachers. Their rates aren't the most important number to look at either - find out how long they've been teaching, how many students they usually keep at a time, and what their music background is. Sometimes the $100/hr teacher is worth it - and sometimes they aren't. Do your due diligence just like any other transaction.
