Introduction: Storytelling is very popular right now... especially true stories from people's lives. But there's rich tradition of folklore and stories going back thousands of years. These obscure and nearly forgotten stories, rich in imagery, still resonate in today's modern world. Your venue is unique. With decades of experience performing in theatres, museums, schools, and homes, I can help you determine how to make your storytelling event succeed.

Tim was awesome. He was the main attraction at a school fundraiser and kept the kids (and a lot of adults) entertained and engaged. Huge success! He was also super-flexible on timing - we had to reschedule the event because of rain and he was extremely easy to work with. Thanks Tim!

Tim held forth for an hour, outdoors, on pavement during Open Streets in Berkeley &drew scores of people, without benefit of any mike. He tells convincing, vivid tales of our time and times past. He learns about his audience, and us about him, by asking us innocuous questions &turns our answers into an introductory tale. It's his way to get to why he's there: to tell stories. Invariably, he arrives prepared and on time, is creative, engaging, personable, holding us with tension-filled plots on winding paths that generate unexpected gasps and laughs.

He was great. Very fun and easy to work with. Kiddos are still retelling his stories.

Tim is a great storyteller, doing an excellent job for us at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden, NV, in 2013. The audience loved him, and we'd easily invite him back for a return engagement. Hire with confidence.

Storytelling

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I not only have a background in theatre and improvisation, but I've been participating in storytelling associations, conferences, and events as a producer, performer, workshop leader, and audience member for thirty years.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with museums, community festivals, families, churches, historic sites, classroom teachers, and at private events (from school fundraisers to weddings to dinner parties) to entertain audiences.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Storytelling is not just for children. The rich imagery and complex characters (that people look for in cable dramas) have been with us since human beings started telling stories. Storytelling requires the active participation of the audience's imagination. For this reason, storytelling does not really work as "background" activity, or when it has to compete with other activities (whether that's a live band, arts and crafts, or checking your smartphones).
