Knowing how to hold an audience member in their seat whilst they are listening to your music and to have them relate to everything you're singing. To believe in all that you have experienced. All that you stand for. This creates fans. This creates sales. This creates you. You have to have complete faith in what you stand for, your message and what you want people to see" D.V.I: This is a process i've used for years and it's been the driving force to getting an amazing live performance and ensures your integrity and makes your performance experience a lot more pleasurable. "Decide" where you will be performing, what the logistics are and if it will be good for you/your band, visualize yourself there (even visit the venue prior to your performance (check sound and venue info), work out what you're going to perform and then inspire. Deciding whether you perform at at venue is extremely important. Whether it's right for you and your band. Sometimes you can simply waste your time. Sometimes you will wish that you'd never booked yourselves to play. Well, the reason is because people go to venues because they know they are going to get a particular band or sound. You don't want to hear thrash metal at a lounge bar. Sometimes it can even put people off so much that they won't have anything good to say about you or your band. Believe me, I've experienced that. The most powerful tool for you in performance is choosing. You choose to perform, you choose the place you want to showcase yourself. So if you do heavy rock you don't want to showcase at mizzy's cocktail bar, you get me? "Visualizing" where you are performing is such a powerful thing to do! When you perform you perform with the energy you have and you put all of your energy into that performance, including your thoughts, your hopes, your positive or your negative thoughts. If you're comfortable with your decision on the venue then you can visualize yourself there. You should even visit the venue and see yourself up on stage, heck maybe go up on stage and see how it feels. If the sound guy is there ask him to show you the system. Don't be afraid to, and in a lot of cases they appreciate you asking and it builds a good relationship before you even get there. "Inspire" the audience. The whole reason you do this is to inspire, to move, to send your message to the world, through your music. It's you showing yourself, sometimes (great performers) bare all on stage and connect at very high levels. If you're not going to inspire then what are you doing up on stage!?!? Once you've got all of these points in place you will rock out. You will move people.
