Sam's Beginning Cello Lessons

Introduction: Hi! My name is Sam Goble. I am a young cellist who lives in the San Carlos area and has been playing for over seven years. I have been a principal cellist in school orchestras for about five years, and I have played with several honor groups and small ensembles. I am currently studying cello under a private teacher and taking music theory/vocal technique classes. Part of being the principal of a section in an orchestra is learning how to lead your fellow players by setting an example of technique as well as providing feedback to those who are struggling with the music or unsure about interpretation. My experience as a leader in orchestras has given me experience with teaching players younger than me and improving their technical foundation. Many players under me have struggled with the concepts of reading music and rhythms, so I can provide assistance with music theory. Because of the impact music has had on my life, I believe that love for it is an especially important quality to reinforce in children. I also believe that children, especially those learning to play an instrument have a unique perspective on music. I consider the experience of teaching a learning opportunity for myself, so I am very willing to make accommodations. I am mostly interested in teaching young beginners, because I believe I have the most to offer to them. I can also teach those who are at a more intermediate (7-10th grade) by providing feedback and advice.
