Survey findings and summary
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that Miami earned mixed grades overall from small businesses, though the city did perform well in several categories.
Some of the key findings for Miami include:
- Miami received a 'B' grade from small businesses for its overall regulatory systems, and a 'B+' for its environmental regulations. The city also earned a 'B' for its small business training and networking programs, place it behind only Jacksonville among major Florida cities.
- Florida slipped slightly overall, dropping from a 'C' grade in 2012 to a 'C-' this year. Florida performed well in several categories, including earning a 'B+' for its tax code and a 'B' for the ease of hiring additional employees in the state.
