Survey findings and summary
After a two-month survey of over 6,000 small business owners nationwide, Thumbtack.com has released new data showing that Miami small businesses gave the city mixed reviews. Although the city struggled in categories such as its networking programs (where it earned a 'D'), it earned a B+ for its tax system.
Some of the key findings for Miami include:
- Miami small businesses were frustrated by the difficulty of starting a business, giving the city a C- in that category.
- Southeastern Florida is the state's stand-out region, receiving #1 rankings for 7 of the 17 categories rated by small businesses. In contrast, North Central Florida fails along multiple dimensions, receiving the lowest ranking for a variety of categories - the region is the state's most difficult for starting a new business and has the state's least friendly tax code. Small businesses rated the Tampa Bay region as having the #1 best-publicized training programs statewide, but the region also had the slowest-growing businesses in all of Florida.
