I needed someone to hang a pair of bi-fold French doors in my 100-year-old house. Like all old houses, nothing is exactly square any more, including the interior opening where I wanted the doors. They sent a craftsman who was such a pleasure to do business with! He was prompt to arrive and meticulous in his work. In less than two hours the job was completed, the doors were adjusted to fit the opening, and I was very pleased with the results. The charges were lower than any of the other estimates I got through Thumbtack (including the Best Home Guys estimate!), since I was only charged for the actual time spent doing the job. I would hire this craftsman again in a heartbeat. In fact, while he was here, he did a rough estimate on another bigger job for me. I'll have to save a while for that one, but I will definitely use this company again.

Phil is the Best!! About a year ago, Harmony installed slide out shelves in our kitchen. They were working great! Then we had some other kitchen remodeling done.So I gave Phil a call. Great product and friendly professional customer service. We had a hidden space in a cabinet and they created an opening in a bar wall and installed pull out shelves. Perfectly matched the design and stain of our existing cabinet doors. Excellent craftsmanship.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of our projects are based on a time and material model. We provide you a written estimate that details the number of hours and the material costs. This is our not-to-exceed estimate. You will only pay for the actual amount of time invested with your project. So if we estimate 3 hours and it only takes us 2.5 hours, you pay for 2.5 hours. There are some exceptions, but this is the basic model.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) through AARP and the National Association of Home Builders. My company is a licensed contractor (Lic# 6344), and Lead Renovation company with the Kansas Department of Health & Environment. All craftsmen are employees, not sub-contractors. Each has passed background and drug screening.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2005 I was laid off from director of operations at a call center in Wichita. Not sure I wanted to leave Wichita to stay in the industry, I decided to pursue my own business. Began with a handyman franchise for 10 years, then started my own business, The Best Home Guys, in 2015.
