Introduction: In your home music lesson. I provide personalized music lessons that are designed upon the student's requirements, goals, level of commitment and natural ability. People learn differently, and start from different levels of musical knowledge and ability, so I don't use a standard "One size fits all" approach to teaching. My job is to determine the most efficient and enjoyable method of sharing the "how to work it", and the "fundamental musical structure" knowledge, with those embarking on the path of musical expression! Each day of your musical journey should be FUN from day one! There will be some frustration when something is not easily done, but the joy of success achieved through "Practice" is well worth the effort. I would love to guide you, your child or gran, along the road to musicianship! Both my time and my rates are flexible so please contact me for your specific needs. I teach Piano, Saxophone, Guitar, Bass and Voice. Ages 5-up (I also can provide entertainment for weddings, public/private parties, corporate events, etc I take great pleasure in watching my students grow, and regret having taken so long to discover my own love for teaching, as well as performing! Hi Everyone! Gary is not only a wonderful vocal instructor. He is a confidence builder, motivational speaker, and genuinely great guy overall. Ive now been with him a few weeks, and can honestly say, Im thankful for our crossing paths through Thumbtack. He utilized the first of our sessions to get to know me as a singer and most importantly a person, allowing me to express my goals and aspirations, while providing some additional insight on himself and his musical experience. Although our sessions have been few, he has already instilled in me valuable lessons around various vocal techniques, musical terminology, stage presence, among other things. Im grateful for the rapport that we have built, and are continuing to build. Im also grateful for his tact, in his delivery around constructive feedback. $25 for half hour $45 for an hour. Discounts for multiple students on one account, multiple lessons within a week, monthly payments in advance and referrals.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Determine student's goals and expectations. Evaluate student's present level of proficiency. Design the instructional approach for the particular student. Identify and acquire necessary training aids, media, etc. Get Started! Lesson One: Learning the notes on instrument and staff.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a B.A. at the University of Wisconsin - Madison where I was part of the Black Music Jazz Ensemble for the duration of my college years. Started playing professionally right out of college and have shared stages with the likes of Lou Rawls, Stephanie Mills, Larry Graham and Sha Na Na! Currently working with 2014's Beach Music Award's "Band of the Year", Rock n' Roll Hall of Famer Earl Dawkins and The Entertainers!y
