- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My alteration prices are much less than the Bridal stores.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For a custom design, we usually meet at a fabric store to choose fabtics, pattern, and materials. I also take measurements at that time. I charge $25 for this consultation and collect 1/2 of the project estimate as a deposit.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got into sewing as a girl in 4-H. I worked in a custom drapery business during college and I have sewn almost anything you can imagine and some things that I never imagined.
