Survey findings and summary
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that New York City's performance improved in this year's ranking, rising to a 'C' overall from a 'D+' in 2012.
Some of the key findings for New York City include:
- Small businesses rated New York City more favorably in this year study across nearly every category. New York earned an 'A' grade for its top-10 rated small business training and networking programs and a 'B+' for the ease of hiring an additional employee in the city.
- New York state improved its overall grade slightly, rising from a 'D' in 2012 to a 'D+' in this year's study. Although the state struggled overall, it received high marks in several categories.
