Being a theorist with strong analytical skills, I have the ability to break down difficult concepts and tasks into manageable steps and I have a profound interest in the process of learning. I am also generous and hard working with my students so I give them my all.
I love the spark of understanding when students get something. I live for the "aha!" moment.

Richard is a great teacher. He is kind, intelligent, and an all around cool dude. I came to him with specific goals - wanting to get better at rhythm guitar and to learn finger picking. 5 lessons later I can say that I've improved immensely and continue to improve at a fast rate, and I can finger pick a few simple patterns quite fast now. His teaching method is systematic, and organized while keeping the lessons light and fun as well. If you're considering him, I'd say go for it.

I am a beginner at guitar, and had specific goals about what I intended to accomplish. Richard listened, and delivered. He has a way of instructing that allows for organic learning, meaning that his tactics taught me how to become comfortable with the new instrument, while simultaneously incorporating music theory, without strictly appearing as such. He is a patient, kind person, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone searching for a teacher, whether he/she is a beginner or someone just looking to fine-tune specific skills.

After carefully considering each of the professionals that contacted me, with difficulty (they were all great) I chose Richard; he was closest to where I live AND was able to accommodate our schedule. Turns out he's FABULOUS. He has a syllabus, he comes PROMPTLY, he is prepared; and his guitar sounds like a delicious wine. My son is really enjoying his lessons. I highly recommend Richard Miller.

Richard is a superb teacher. He doesn't take any shortcuts, but rather takes the time to build your skills from the ground up. He is knowledgeable, he is encouraging and kind, and he works with your personality to provide the best experience. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn guitar, enhance their skills or just want enjoy playing guitar.
